JSEG Fall Intern, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), Advanced Concepts Office
The Jacobs Space Exploration Group (JSEG) is seeking a fall intern to provide Model Based Engineering (MBE) support the Advanced Concepts Office (ACO) at Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC).
ACO specializes in concept definition studies for space exploration elements. The Office consists of multi-discipline design teams that can provide fully-integrated assessments of missions and vehicle elements.
The fall intern will work under the direction of experienced engineers and subject matter experts in the Advanced Concepts Office to support studies currently being performed related to the Mars Ascent Vehicle. The Fall Intern can expect challenging assignments such as:
Using the Systems Modeling Language (SysML) to edit and create MBSE models
Developing and maintaining MagicDraw models around space mission architectures and collaborating via Teamwork Server

Candidates for this position must have a bachelor's degree in engineering or science and currently pursuing an advanced degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering. A degree from an ABET accredited institution is preferred.
Additional position requirements are:
Knowledge of MBSE methods and processes.
Must have experience with SysML and Magic Draw.
General knowledge of launch vehicle and spacecraft systems.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to integrate with a diverse team.
Show initiative and be proactive to make connections and build relationships with key players on the tasks.
Demonstrate the capability to plan and perform analyses independently and with a team.
Demonstrate strong technical writing and presentation skills in order to present data to study customers.
Candidates must also be able to provide their own transportation.
Office and laboratory environment. Requires ability to provide clear, concise, accurate and timely communication, both verbally and in writing (100%). Requires ability to interact professionally with co-workers, management, and client (100%). Requires travel in the domestic USA (<5%).
Requires sitting for extended periods of time in meetings with peers, management, and with our NASA client to discuss technical issues (20%). Also, requires sitting for extended periods of time at a desk to write reports and software development (60%). Requires ability to use stairs or elevators for access between floors and multiple buildings at NASA and Jacobs facilities (<10%).
Equipment and Machines
Requires ability to operate a personal computer, a telephone, fax machine, copier, calculator, and other general office equipment (100%).
Normal workday is from 7:30 a.m. through 4:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday. Minimal overtime may be required (<10%) to meet schedule milestones and to support technical demands of the job. Regular attendance is a necessity and adequate arrangements for delegating duties during absences are required.
Other Essential Functions
The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, to make rational decisions, and to exercise good judgment is essential (100%). Grooming and dress must beappropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
Proof of U.S. Citizenship is required.
