Verbal, written, and telephone etiquette. Above average ability to interpret, analyze, troubleshoot and resolve technical problems. Must be decisive, conscientious and interact well in a team environment or training capacity. Have a strong desire to learn and be able to follow policies and procedures. Demonstrate the ability to work well with a minimal amount of supervision. Must have a strong working knowledge of and experience with computer hardware, software and peripheral devices in a diverse environment. Provide a high level of interfacing with co-workers, and communicate effectively with the clients, IT personnel and management.
Leadership/Direction: Activities will be directed, monitored, outlined and supervised by a more senior PST or lead. Follows standard work methods on recurring assignments and receives instructions on unfamiliar assignments. Technical adequacy of routine work is reviewed on completion; non-routine work may also be reviewed in progress. Assists with lower level on-the-job training.
Activities: A PST should be at a more advanced level with regard to desktop operating systems, office applications, hardware installation/troubleshooting and have some knowledge of network operating systems and network hardware.
Provide direct customer service and technical support to users as required via phone, email, online systems, and in person
Provide professional and personal assistance to clients in answering inquiries, locating information and analyzing technical requirements
Provide prompt responses to users for problem resolution
Maintain skill set required to do job
Maintain an awareness of trends within the technology industry
Install/configure network printing devices
Install, configure and maintain network applications and application distribution systems
Ensure system security in compliance with customer policy including virus protection
Implement and maintain network standards and guidelines
Utilize enterprise tools sets such as Lite Touch Imaging, SCCM Remote Control, Active Directory, etc.
Configure and install new PCs, installation of needed peripherals and software, and physical attachment of PC to network.
Install and maintain peripheral equipment, such as printers, virtual machines, scanners, etc.
Perform other hardware and software tasks as assigned
Here’s What You’ll Need:
Required Education and Experience
- One (1) year of college or technical training in a computer field and three (3) years of directly related experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience for a total of four (4) years.
- This position requires a Secret Level Security Clearance.
No certificates are required at time of hire but Baseline and Computing Environment certs must be obtained within 6 months of the start date*

Requires sitting for extended periods of time at a desk (90%). Requires sitting at a computer terminal for long periods of time (90%). There is a possibility that due to parking availability and location of work area walking moderate to long distances can sometimes be required.
Inside office/cubicle environment. Requires ability to interact professionally with co-workers and all levels of management (100%).
Equipment and Machines
Requires ability to operate a personal computer, a telephone, copier, and other general office equipment (100%). Ability to conduct evaluation of third and fourth generation or current state of the art computer hardware and software and its ability to support specific requirements, interfacing with other equipment and systems.
Attendance is critical. Work hours are normally 8 hours per day and 5 days per week, Monday through Friday. Being prompt is important to provide continuous and on-going service to customers. Attendance is important to maintain continuity of service. Work outside of normal duty hours may be required with as little as one hour advance notice. Overtime is infrequent, but important when required (1%).
Other Essential Functions
Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Must be able to interface with individuals at all levels of the organization. Must be a U.S. citizen. Must be able to obtain unescorted access to work areas. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others. Must possess an IAT Level III professional certification in accordance with DODI 8570.01m. The minimum of an active interim Secret or Secret level DoD security clearance is required.
