We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Systems Engineer to provide support and technical leadership as an Analysis Cycle Coordinator for the Human Landing System (HLS) Program working directly with the Integrated Performance (IP) Team. This is an exciting and challenging leadership position that requires creativity, innovation, collaboration, and consensus building with leadership and technical experts across virtually all disciplines and stakeholders. This role combines a need for clear and strategic thinking, project management skills, and a dedication to documenting information gathered and developed. We are looking for an integral team player who works collaboratively with others, and who can also work independently, coordinate projects, develop and learn new skills, and maintain communication with various stakeholders while working on multiple simultaneous projects.

The candidate will provide and perform the following tasks:

  • Work with IP leads to build analysis cycle plans in JIRA.

  • Serve as the primary contact for the mechanics of the JIRA build.

  • Coordinate top-level analysis cycle task definitions and schedules with IP deputies, delegating tasks as necessary.

  • Maintain the overall schedule product for all analysis cycles.

  • Ensure that the JIRA build has Entry Criteria Documentation (ECDs) for all tasks and subtasks.

  • Collaborate with Program Planning & Control (PP&C) to incorporate JIRA information into IP schedules and Program Integrated Master Schedule (IMS).

  • Provide IP Lead and IP Deputies with schedule overviews and graphical representations upon request.

  • Attend and contribute to bi-weekly schedule meetings with the IP lead.

  • Maintain schedules and task Outbrief dates at the IP Weekly and SERF/TURF Weekly meetings.

Here’s what you’ll need :

Qualifications:

A degree in Computer, Aerospace, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering or a BS in a technical discipline such as Computer Science is required. Typically, experience requirement is the equivalent of a Master’s degree with at least 8 total years of modeling and simulation integration experience or a BS with at least 10 total years of relevant experience in systems engineering and integration.

The candidate is also required to have:

  • Technical integration experience working with a variety of engineering disciplines and project/program organizations.

  • Experience in product management, product strategy, and software development.

  • Knowledge in the development and maintenance of JIRA tools for project management and product life cycle.

  • Experience communicating to upper management and decision makers: “communicating to the top”.

  • Outstanding negotiation skills demonstrated through complex technical problem solving and the capability to break down complex problems or issues into manageable pieces to facilitate resolution of technical concerns or issues.

  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, customer relation skills, and presentation skills.

  • Intermediate skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

Desired:

  • Experience/knowledge of NASA Systems Engineering policies and procedures.

Essential Functions

Work Environment:

Office and laboratory environment. Requires ability to provide clear, concise, accurate and timely communication, both verbally and in writing (100%). Requires ability to interact professionally with co-workers, management, and client (100%). Requires travel in the domestic USA (<15%).

Physical Requirements:

Requires sitting for extended periods of time in meetings with peers, management, and with our client at NASA facilities to discuss technical issues (10%). Also, requires sitting for extended periods of time at a desk to write reports and perform engineering tasks (80%). Requires ability to use stairs or elevators for access between floors and multiple buildings at NASA and our facilities (10%).

Equipment and Machines:

Requires ability to operate a personal computer, a telephone, fax machine, copier, calculator, and other general office equipment (100%).

Attendance:

Normal workday is from 7:30 a.m. through 4:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday. Minimal overtime may be required (10%) to meet schedule milestones and to support technical demands of the job. Regular attendance is a necessity and adequate arrangements for delegating duties during absences are required.

Other Essential Functions:

The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and to make rational decisions, and to exercise good judgment is essential (100%). Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
