- The successful candidate will support field Health & Safety professionals staff members as assigned.
We are presentlyreviewing candidates for summer interns in the field of Construction Health andSafety. Jacobs is providing EPCMservices for a $1.65 billion/multiyear Spent Fuel Handling project located atthe Naval Reactors Facility near Scoville, Idaho.
The Health and Safetysummer interns will join the project team which is based in Idaho Falls, ID,and site work at the Project Site on the Idaho National Laboratory for thesummer of 2018.
Responsible for assisting in the daily coordination and implementation of the HSE management system
Functions in a support role to the HSE manager
Observes work activities and advises HSE management regarding improvements in HSE program implementation and/or performance
Interface with HSE Staff and Site Management including (sub) contractors.
Support management to achieve corporate / site HSE goals and objectives
Support implementing HSE Absolutes in coordination with management
Implement HSE policies and procedures
Monitor compliance to HSE standards to include conducting field inspections
Assist in the auditing of the site HSE management system to determine compliance levels, participate in site-related audits
Support site specific HSE training requirements
Assist in the investigation of incidents for root cause identification and preventive action
Support managing control of health and environmental hazards and exposures
Engage and promote Beyond Zero culture – be a BZ Champion
Complete weekly performance deliverables as outlined
Assist in the development and delivery of technical training material and presentations
Participate in daily, weekly, and monthly safety meetings
Asist in the preparation of HSE reports and correspondence to support the HSE Manager
Basic knowledge of occupational safety and health principles and practices
Organizing, planning and executing skills
Interpersonal communication skills
Developing technical expertise in HSE
Report writing capabilities
Statistical and analytical skills
Relationship-building competencies with multiple employee levels
Computer based systems and software with emphasis on Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel & Word programs)
Training and Experience:
Good written and verbal communication skills – required
Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs – required
US Citizenship only - no dual citizenship.
Must pass DOE required background check and drug screen
Must have current motor vehicle operator’s license with good driving record
Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting and lifting
Ability to climb stairs and ladders to varying heights
Ability to wear fall protection equipment
Lifting requirements are limited to 50 pounds
Must be alert to equipment and machinery in the field
Ability to walk on uneven ground
Ability to work in hot and cold weather environments
