Jacobs’ Nuclear Programs and Consulting is a Tier 1 service provider to the U.S. Department of Energy, we deliver safe and innovative solutions at complex nuclear cleanup and production sites. Our services include program management, decommissioning, environmental remediation, waste and nuclear material management, nuclear operations, consulting, and engineering and construction.
We’re looking for a Mechanical Engineer, ideally with experience in industrial/government construction experience. You will work onsite at the SFHP project office near Scoville, ID to manage projects within established budgets and schedules. as part of onsite construction support for title 3 activities. This includes dispositioning NCRs, performing assessments on existing design, responding to RFIs, issuing Design Change Notices (DCNs) that require a PE license in Idaho. Duties also include coordination with Quality on inspections and supporting development of Scopes of work for electrical subcontracts with procurement and Construction groups. Other project functions include the following tasks: survey/assess existing facility and master planning, scoping and estimating level of engineering effort; field work to assess existing conditions; report writing; conceptual design; review of design development of drawings, specifications, and calculation analyses; assistance with cost estimating; and services during bidding and construction, including answering requests for information, bid review, shop drawing review, site visits during construction, commissioning support, hosting progress meetings, and project closeout Additionally, you will Follow established Jacobs quality procedures and ensures that all work accomplished under their control is accomplished under established quality procedures. Here’s What You’ll Need:
B.S. Mechanical Engineering or other closely related engineering discipline is required
5 or more years of engineering experience is required
Demonstrated experience of delivering a range of projects from concept through detailed design completion.
Able to lead groups of engineers and designers to complete technical portions of projects within established budgets and schedules.
Experience working within a quality system based on ISO 9000 or NQA-1
Competent using discipline specific technical software such as: Carrier HAP, Trane TRACE, PipeFlo, AutoCAD, Microstation, etc…
Competent using Microsoft Office software.
US citizen required
Engineering Registration (PE) required in state of Idaho, or ability to quickly obtain an Idaho PE via reciprocity.
Knowledge of building and design codes, including IBC, IMS, UPC, NFPA, and ASME
USA Citizenship is required
Experience in industrial/government design of Mechanical, HVAC, B31.3 Piping, Plumbing Systems required, Fire Protection design experience desired but not required.
Familiarity with Instrumentation & Controls interface
Experience with leading technical discussions with client
Ability to author proposals and Statements of work is a plus
8 or more years of experience is preferred
Leadership experience desired but not required
Master’s degree is a plus
DOE Q clearance is preferred but not required
A person residing a commutable distance from our SFHP project office in Southeast Idaho is preferred
DOE experience is desirable but not required.
Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting. Lifting requirements limited to 20 lbs. in the form of supplies, drawings, etc. Longest distance carried of 50 feet. Hand manipulation is required for simple grasping, pushing and pulling, and fine manipulation. Right and/or left hands utilized. Occasional need to reach and/or work above the shoulder, for supplies, as well as below the shoulder for same. No foot controls necessary. Must be alert to equipment in the field, there will be occasional travel, will work near construction job site equipment when in the field, occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery, occasional need to walk on uneven ground, exposure to dust, gas or fumes, exposure to noise, extremes in temperature or humidity, and potential work at heights.
