About the opportunity
The rolling stock Engineer is responsible for supporting the technical delivery of Electrical Installation designs for rolling stock. You will be working on industry-leading rolling stock modification projects within a global company, with clients throughout the rail sector.
The ideal candidate will have a solid and extensive background of working as a design engineer within the rail industry. You will work closely with our design managers, specialist engineers and your fellow design engineers to deliver engineering design solutions for industry-leading rolling stock modification projects, from initial concept work through detail design and on to support of installation on turnkey projects.
A desire to achieve high quality outputs and deliver excellent service
Experience managing operational risk, project delivery, HSEC, quality and service
Support to achieve “best for project” outcomes
Identify and address issues that would impact on desired project outcomes
Provide progress information to allow accurate reporting of progress
Identify and communicate resource availability / constraints
Contributes to a culture of excellence in quality work and successful projects
Build appropriate relationships with relevant project stakeholders
Works towards achieving “best for project” outcomes
Provide feedback and coaching to junior team members
Supports internal learning and development / knowledge sharing in area of expertise within Jacobs.
Develop working relationships across various disciplines
Strong communications skills.
Strong negotiation skills.
BTech or MTech in Electrical / Electronic engineering or other rail industry recognized qualification with
8- 12 years’ experience.
Minimum 5 years previous experience of design work of railway rolling stock (trains, passenger carriages etc)
Experience of Siemens Solid Edge 3D CAD software
Experience of Bentley Microstation CAD software
Design experience of at least two of the following subjects:
