Jacobs Mechanical Engineering Intern - Summer 2025 in Indianapolis, Indiana
We’re seeking a Mechanical Engineering intern with an interest in HVAC, Building Mechanical, and Fire Protection Systems to join our team in Indianapolis, IN. You’ll have the opportunity to use your theoretical knowledge and apply it to solving today’s challenges.
As part of our team, you’ll have the chance to work on projects that bring innovative solutions to our clients’ challenges locally and worldwide by providing a range of engineering services.
You’ll be responsible for providing system design calculations and other related design services including coordination with the designs of other trades (architectural and engineering) under the guidance of Professional Engineers. You’ll use your skills and experience to help deliver and complete challenging and engaging projects. You’ll assist in the design of Water Spray/Sprinkler systems, Fire & Gas Detection systems, and Fire Alarm systems while also helping develop the plans for the overall building safety.
You’ll also take ownership of the completeness, accuracy and timeliness of the work assigned to you by demonstrating the ability to progress from basic design work assignments to more complicated and involved projects working in conjunction with a technical team.

Qualifications
Internship positions require enrollment in a degree seeking program of Mechanical, Architectural or Fire Protection Engineering or closely related discipline
Desire to design building mechanical systems, including HVAC and piping, for buildings and facilities.
Ideally, you’ll also have:
3.0 GPA or higher
Engineer in Training (EIT)
Proficiency in Revit, 3D CADD
Prior internship experience with a design firm
