Position Summary

Reporting directly to the Architectural Group Leader, this role researches, programs, plans, designs, and administers building projects for clients, applying knowledge of architectural design, zoning and building codes, building systems and materials for clients according to their desires, needs, and financial resources. Supervises design documentation activities of others and leads project teams.

  • Direct, supervise and check activities of staff engaged in preparing drawings and specification documents for Conceptual Design, Schematic Design, and/or the Detailed Design Phases of a project

  • Handle technical and production aspects of projects

  • Check for code compliance and coordinate with in-house engineering disciplines and outside consultants

  • Work closely with the Design Principal or Senior Designer, technical leadership and engineering discipline leads to understand design intent and goals for successful implementation

  • Assist in the design control / construction administration phase of projects

  • Maintain firm-wide documentation procedures and standards

  • Support project management in fee estimating and work plans

  • Provide technical guidance to project staff

  • Assist in performance review feedback for project staff

  • Possess full knowledge of industry best practice standards and expectations

  • Performs work of complex scope

  • Utilizes computer-assisted design software and equipment to prepare project documents and construction details

  • Perform specification editing

  • Periodic travel to project locations and other Jacobs offices should be anticipated


  • Minimum 10 years relevant professional experience required.

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture required

  • State Licensure/Registration required

  • Valid drivers' license is required

  • U.S. Citizenship is required

  • Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment and be able to work under tight deadlines, while maintaining high quality standards

  • Excellent verbal and graphic communication skills, strong conceptualization and computation skills

  • Proficiency in REVIT and AutoCAD is required

  • Federal including DoD project experience preferred

  • Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign graphic software preferred

  • Advanced knowledge of architectural building systems required

  • Advanced knowledge of sustainability, integrated design and LEED guidelines

  • Ability to work in team environment

  • Ability to effectively meet deadlines

  • Advanced knowledge of CBC, IBC & Accessibility Codes
