Position Summary

In this role, theRailroad Project Engineer will assist engineers by performing the routineaspects of civil engineering assignments, subsequently providing familiaritywith the programs, staff, and operating procedures of the company. TheRailroad Project Engineer will work on a variety of railroad and transitprojects. Duties will include:

  • Performs civil design calculations including track design for a variety of railroad-related projects.

  • Prepares design drawings, sketches, technical comparisons and similar technical work as required by assignment

  • Coordinates project assignments with those of other engineers and technicians in his/her discipline group.

  • Reviews drawings supplied by contractors, clients, and engineers then recommends necessary changes.

  • Researches design criteria and code issues to ensure project designs comply with same,

  • Works with City, State, and County officials as required.

  • Researches design options and documents findings for Project Engineers and/or Project Managers.

  • Provides project cost estimating.

  • Attends design review meetings and interacts with clients as his or her level of experience progresses

  • Assists with other duties assigned by Project Engineers and/or Project Managers.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 to 5 years of demonstrated design experience required with specific experience on various types of transit and/or railroad track projects preferred.

  • BSCE required.

  • EIT required and Florida PE preferred.

  • Previously demonstrated design project experience with freight railroads and/or commuter railroads.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.

  • Experience with MicroStation and Inroads required.
