Your Impact:

This requisition is for Group Manager - Crawlers, Transporters, and Structures (Mobile Launcher & Pad). This position resides within

the Ground Systems Support Directorate's Operations and Maintenance organization at Kennedy Space Center, providing leadership to

a high performing team that reliably maintains & operates substantial assets that are essential for the transportation and structural

support of flight hardware and related structures. Responsibilities include the following: provide leadership and clear direction to a

team of engineers and represented technicians; establish solid goals and expectations; build strong relationships based on trust,

integrity, and keeping commitments; proactively identify opportunities to provide recognition and constructive feedback to

employees; work closely with planners, schedulers, and work flow coordinators to ensure diligent planning to optimize resources and

maximize productivity; plan, estimate, track, and control labor and other direct costs; maintain persistent communication and

coordination with customers, management and team; identify, estimate, document, and track variances (unplanned or out of scope

work); forecast, track, and assign overtime labor; ensure work is performed safely per established processes, procedures, and work

authorizing documents. Must have a fundamental understanding of asset management practices and principles, utilizing planning,

scheduling, & key performance metrics to drive efficiency and performance.

Candidates must have demonstrated experience and success in leading operations and maintenance engineers and technicians, with a

strong understanding of quality management systems, asset management, reliability centered maintenance, operations &

maintenance, predictive technologies, mechanical & electrical engineering fundamentals, failure modes & effects analysis, hazard

assessment, OSHA requirements, resource planning and scheduling, team building & morale functions, employee recognition, and

utilization of metrics to drive performance and process improvement. Experience with CMRP, 6S, L6S, and planning and scheduling

tools such as Maximo, Primavera, and Solumina is desirable.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

Qualifications: Bachelor of Science (BS) in related management area; at least 10 years related experience including at least three years of successfully managing people.

Candidates must have demonstrated experience and success in leading operations and maintenance engineers and technicians, with a

strong understanding of quality management systems, reliability centered maintenance, hazard assessment, OSHA requirements,

working at heights, and Collective Bargaining Agreements. Experience with CMRP, 6S, L6S, and planning and scheduling tools such as

Maximo, Primavera, and Solumina is desirable.

Essential Functions

Physical Requirements

  • Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.

  • Physical requirements are: sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures.

  • Position is located on a hazardous testing facility; must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency.

Work Environment

  • Work will mainly be done inside, but fieldwork can be a combination of outside and inside depending on the project.

  • Working at heights and in confined spaces may be required.

  • Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand is required to access various locations on the facility.

  • Climbing ladders and platforms will be necessary.

  • All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and Company safety standards.

Equipment and Machines

  • Computers and printers used for producing reports and schedules.

  • Variety of equipment used in performing research.

Attendance

  • Full-time regular work hours between Monday-Friday.

  • Position may require occasional overtime including weekend work depending on task.

  • Must be dependable and punctual.

  • Shift work maybe required.

Other Essential Functions

  • Must be able to accurately communicate ideas in writing and verbal communication.

  • Must be able to travel to support position requirements. This may include travel to and from customer location, which may involve airline travel. In some cases, accommodations can be made for POV, if necessary.

  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.

  • Must comply with all “drug free workplace” requirements as mandated by directives issued by the appropriate federal contracting officer and the company, which requires drug testing for use of illegal drugs by employees in sensitive positions.

  • Government security clearance may be required in the future.

  • Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relations with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.
