The Test and Operations Support Contract (TOSC) at Kennedy Space Center supports NASA's next great adventure to “Explore Moon to Mars” and we want you to be a part of it! Join us in the adventure of a lifetime by becoming a team member where “Boots on the Ground are Putting Boots on the Moon.” Jacobs provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

In this role you will perform as the IT Network Engineer for the Modeling and Simulation Integrated Product Team (M&S IPT).

The M&S IPT supports NASA's Spaceport Command and Control System (SCCS), used for checkout and launch of the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket and Orion spacecraft. The successful candidate will contribute to the simulation infrastructure used to test the Launch Control System and train console operators supporting launch for NASA's Artemis program.

Responsibilities:

Work activities include design, development, integration, testing, documentation and support of the computer systems and network infrastructure required to support the M&S IPT.

Under general supervision, job duties will include:

· Review user requirements and perform analysis, design, implementation, installation, testing, maintenance and documentation related to new hardware and network designs

· Expert support for hardware and network architecture/design

· Ensuring compliance with applicable hardware standards, processes, and design philosophies

· Assist with real-time troubleshooting, anomaly resolution, and system recovery as necessary

· Participate in design panels, technical assessments, and analysis tasks to determine how new capabilities and changes will impact the products and rest of the system

· Other duties as assigned

Here’s what you’ll need :

Required Experience/Abilities:

BS degree in Computer Engineering, IT or related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 4 years of progressive, recent and relevant experience (additional education may be substituted for a portion of the experience)

· Full life cycle architecture, design, development, testing, integration, delivery and maintenance.

· Computer hardware architecture in support of near real time processing.

· Linux OS: kernel, threading, networking, and virtual machines.

· Installation/configuration of computer servers, switches, and other IT infrastructure.

· Planning implementation of enhancements and upgrades to the network.

· Administration and maintenance of computer hardware and software.

· Writing technical documentation.

· Producing consistent positive results with minimal direction and supervision.

· Prioritizing and executing in a fast-paced environment with varying requirements and deadlines.

· Working both independently and in a team environment.

· If offered a position, proof of U.S. Citizenship or Legal Permanent Resident/Green Card holder of the United States is required.

Desired Experience/Abilities:

· VMware vSphere

· Ansible Automation Platform

· CompTIA Server certification

· VMWare Certified Professional - Data Center Virtualization certification.

Essential Functions:

Physical Requirements

· Will be required to climb stairs in order to access equipment for trouble shooting.

· Will be required to wear hearing protection, eye protection and other associated personal protective equipment.

· Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.

· Physical requirements include sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures.

· Position is located on a hazardous testing facility; must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency.

Work Environment

· Will be required to work inside and outside throughout the test complex.

· Position may require daily individual to travel to different areas on site.

· Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand is required to access various locations on the facility.

· Climbing ladders and platforms may be necessary.

· All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and Company safety standards.

Equipment and Machines

· Computers and printers used for producing reports and schedules.

· Variety of equipment used in network testing.

Attendance

· Full-time regular work hours between Monday-Friday.

· Position may require occasional overtime including weekend work depending on task.

· Must be dependable and punctual.

· Shift work may be required.
