The Mechanical Superintendent position includes responsibility for planning and managing mechanical scopes of work. Participate in the evaluation, bid and award subcontractor process. Upon award the Superintendent works with subcontractors to further plan, staff and execute the work in a safe and efficient manner. This position requires experience in installation of mechanical equipment and industrial pipe installations in the Bio/Pharma Industry. Under general supervision exercises independent judgment and discretion and is responsible for applying knowledge of administrative management practices. Duties involve either work directly related to general business operations or supervising and overseeing the work of others Technical knowledge of engineering design standards, specifications and industry guidelines is essential.
Specific tasks and responsibilities:
Management and guidance of project Health Safety and Performance
Ensure all required permits, licenses and inspections are in place
Management of Change
Appropriate sequencing, fabrication documentation, material supply, site conditions
Complete installation to Quality Requirements
Compliance with user requirements and documented acceptance criteria
Assists in Gathering Turnover, Test and inspection Documentation
10-15 years’ experience with BS Engineering Degree; –15-20 years without BS degree.
Minimum of 20 years of Construction Experience working with contractors.
Experience MEP background that has worked on Bio/Pharma sites.
Mechanical/Process piping background that has worked on Industrial sites.
Construction experience to include site infrastructure, support buildings and utility / process distribution and manufacturing facilities.
Experience with retrofit / turn-around type projects.
Experience with the installation and quality installation of piping and equipment associated with plant steam, plant air, chilled water / glycol systems.
Also experience with installation and welding / cleaning requirements on clean utility systems including but not limited to Clean Steam, WFI, DI Water and Clean Compressed Air.
Experience on the setting, connecting and commissioning / start-up of and packaged utility and process equipment skidded equipment is needed.
Understanding of HVAC systems, Test & Balance, controls, & automation is a plus.
Have to understand the QA/QC process of keeping systems clean during installation.
Prior experience with Managing Contractors.
OSHA 30 training preferred.
