We’re seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Knoxville, Tennessee. You’ll have the opportunity to use your vast experience in the industry and apply it to solving today’s challenges.

At Jacobs, our Mechanical Engineers design HVAC, plumbing, and other building mechanical systems for government and institutional owners. Our engineers see a variety of project types and sizes in geographies across the globe. Typical duties include these:

• Assisting in proposal development by estimating labor hours and developing technical delivery approaches.

• Performing site surveys, existing facility assessments, client interviews, and initial project charrettes.

• Developing design calculations, drawings, and specifications, including regular coordination with other design disciplines.

• Reviewing construction submittals and providing other assistance during the construction phase of a project.

• Communicating regularly with the entire project team, from project inception to closeout, to maintain alignment of scope, schedule, budget, and quality.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

Here’s What You’ll Need:

• BS degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering from ABET accredited school

• PE licensure in at least one US state

• US citizenship

• 5+ years of experience designing facility mechanical systems, including HVAC and plumbing

• Demonstrated proficiency in application of industry standard codes, including ICC, ASHRAE, and NFPA documents

• Demonstrated proficiency in producing construction documents using Revit

• Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills

• Ability to maintain high level of productivity while working remotely with little oversight or in a hybrid in-office/at-home arrangement

Ideally, You’ll Also Have: 

• Demonstrated proficiency in application of Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) and Uniform Facilities Guide Specifications (UFGS) documents to building mechanical design

• Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance

• Ability to travel 10-20%

• Proven track record associated with sustainable design as evidenced by LEED registration or similar credentials

• Competency in the use of industry standard analytical software, including Trane TRACE3D and Pipeflow

• Experience in leveraging tasks to less experienced individuals and assisting in their technical development

• Knowledge of project configuration and setup in Revit and Navisworks
