About the Opportunity
Jacobs is now hiring talented Safety Case & Licensing Engineers, across all grades from Junior Engineer through to Principal, to join our nuclear power business.
Our reputation for safely delivering quality projects on time and on budget is well recognised by our clients and our technical excellence and strong client relationships put us at the forefront of our industry, along with our proven expertise in managing large, complex projects in the UK and overseas. What that means to you is the opportunity to experience a real variety of projects from licensing new technology to supporting existing generation in multiple geographies.
We are seeking general and more specific safety case authors, experienced with the claims, arguments and evidence approach, as well as subject matter experts across all the licensing workstreams.
We would also be interested in hearing from those involved in engineering design and substantiation of systems across the plant from concept to detailed design who have safety case, security case and environmental experience.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
The ideal candidate will be degree qualified in a Science, Technology or Engineering discipline with experience in the nuclear or defence industries, although applicants from other high-hazard industries will be considered.
For those who would like to transition into Safety Case from other engineering disciplines, relevant sector experience would be preferred but excellent training and mentorship will be provided.
For our more senior roles, you will be able to demonstrate successful delivery of nuclear safety deliverables and strategy on complex projects and development of more junior members of staff.
We need you to have sound technical knowledge and to understand Safety Assessment Principles and their application to modern standards of safety case preparation.
Ideally this will include knowledge of:
Safety studies and assessments e.g., FMEA, HAZID, ALARP
Development of safety functional requirements
Operating in an environment with a graded approach to quality processes
Awareness of nuclear regulatory regimes
You will liaise with customers to develop relationships and understand their challenges to develop and present solutions. There will be technical meetings with clients, regulators and other third parties and the opportunity to be involved in the development of contract proposals and tenders.
It would be a bonus if you have experience of nuclear licensing arrangements
Ideal locations are Gloucester, Knutsford and Newcastle but we are open to discussing other location options.
UK Security Clearance may be required.
