About the Opportunity

The Structural Analysis and Assessment Team is looking to recruit a Team Leader and experienced project manager to effectively line manage 6-8 structural Integrity experts supporting the life extension of the current AGR fleet of nuclear power stations. You will also be key to winning and delivering new projects as the team continues to develop and deliver a strategy for expanding it’s client base beyond traditional customers. As part of the team, you will be delivering important solutions to real problems, meeting the UK energy demands and carbon emissions targets.

The successful candidate will have a sound structural integrity background and proven track record in successfully leading teams to deliver projects to time, cost and quality, leading by example in the safe and secure delivery of projects. Team Leaders are expected to undertake significant billable work so the leadership role will need to be performed within annual overhead bookings. The position will offer the opportunity for career development and a path into more senior leadership roles.

You will be part of our Structural Analysis and Assessment Team which comprises a broad range of Engineering and Scientific experts spanning mathematics, physics, structural and mechanical engineering, software development, finite-element stress analysis, and structural integrity analysis and assessment. We provide these services to a range of customers, mainly but not exclusively in the nuclear industry, to ensure the economic and safe operation of capital-intensive plant, from both government and private industry. We also actively participate in a number of national and international projects and work closely with other parts of Jacobs to provide integrated solutions to client requirements.

The team excels at hybrid working, with some days at home and others in our offices in Warrington, Knutsford and Manchester.

Key responsibilities

Team Leader;

  • Motivating and leading project teams to deliver successful outcomes.

  • Proven skills and experience with tendering and contract processes, bidding and winning work.

  • Planning the team’s workload and resolving resource conflicts where necessary, through a proactive problem-solving approach,

  • Responding to any emergent staff issues, engaging Operations Manager (OM) as required,

  • Supporting development of individuals by helping to identify training and opportunities to increase role,

  • Continuing to grow and develop the team in alignment with business needs,

Project Management;

  • Project planning (project execution plans, quality plans, risk registers) in line with Jacobs project delivery procedures,

  • Delivery of project objectives; development and implementation of project schedules, considering key milestones and deliverables, management of budgets and resource planning.

  • Robust management of risks and opportunities, implementing change management processes where required.

  • Monitoring and reporting progress to both clients and internal stakeholders regularly and accurately.

  • Ensure technical oversight of graphite related projects, either directly or by assigning appropriate resources which includes development of technical specifications and review and approval of technical reports.

  • Ensure project delivery consistent with business management quality procedures.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Experience in project management within an engineering and consultancy environment. Proficient in schedule, budget, HSSEQ and risk management.

  • A clear focus on collaboration, with the ability to develop relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders to deliver assured outcomes for our clients.

  • Knowledge of nuclear graphite and the EDF Energy Technical Support Alliance Framework (TSA) is preferable but not required.

  • Able to manage competing priorities, through strong organisation, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Motivated and committed to strong technical delivery

Due to our client requirements we will require you to obtain and maintain full UK security clearance to SC level
