The Instrumentation Sr. Manager/ Deputy General Manager is expected to lead a team of instrumentation engineers, designers and draftsmen; apply his / her knowledge and experience to deliver quality instrumentation design for successful completion of projects and construction of facilities. He / She is expected to have flexibility in the approach towards work to get adapted to different work situations. He / she is expected to put in continuous efforts for improvement of the skill base of the group by designing appropriating technical training programs for the group colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading a team of engineers and designers with oversight of space, resources, systems, work practices and safety program.

  • Delivering quality Instrumentation design on a capital project while meeting cost and schedule objectives.

  • Developing & improving the work processes to be used by all the team members.

  • Ensuring effective work processes and procedures are in place and are being followed to execute the work.

  • Workhour estimations for the instrumentation portion of the capital projects, either Indigenous or workshare with lead offices.

  • Developing Instrumentation work load forecasting and managing process.

  • Coordination with the engineers and designers from other engineering disciplines to ensure timeliness and quality of all the design deliverables on a capital project.

  • Ensuring balanced utilization of the resources to meet project objective

  • Providing overall discipline leadership and coordination in their functional processes on projects of various sizes and complexities.

  • Developing processes and procedures for coordination of design work with other discipline engineers and designers.

  • Guiding engineers and designers during conceptual design stage and also while preparation of production design deliverables



  • Bachelors / Master’s Degree in Instrumentation engineering. Minimum of 20 years work experience in Instrumentation Design; preferably with consulting engineering companies. Experience in engineering of the instrumentation systems for chemicals, petrochemical, mineral and metals plants are preferred.

  • Reasonably good experience in application of computer aided design tools such as SPI, PDMS, SP3D, Microstation, AutoCAD etc.

  • Hands on experience in following:

o Preparation of specifications for all Instrumentation equipment like DCS, Field Instruments, Public Address System, CCTV, Cables etc.

o Knowledge of international standards such as:


 International Electro-Technical Commission( IEC)

 Instrument Society of America (ISA)

  • Strong leadership skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks; willing to delegate.

  • Good understanding of the business, the technology and manufacturing process.

  • Results oriented and disciplined to follow project processes and best practices.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.

Additional Information

The candidate must be self-motivated, and able to work effectively in a team environment with people at all levels that are geographically and culturally diverse. The ability to work independently with minimum oversight, manage multiple jobs simultaneously, organize work and set priorities is also required. The candidate will also be expected to coordinate with other disciplines and interface with overseas offices regularly; some overseas travel may be required.
