Jacobs Cost Engineer in Krakow, Poland

Your Impact:

Jacobs, WSP, Italferr, Morgan Sindall and COWI are collaborating in the pursuit of the HS2 Phase 2A Design & Delivery Partner (DDP) commission. This is expected to be a 10-year programme in the UK to develop the design, obtain all necessary consents, procure construction and integration services and hand over an operational high-speed railway between Birmingham and Crewe.

The Primary Goal of this role is to manage the costs across HS2 Phase 2a including:-

  • Programme Management of HS2 Phase2a,

  • Scheme Design Delivery for HS2 Phase2a,

  • the contract management of multiple contractors as a part of HS2 Phase2a

  • and supporting the integration with other HS2 suppliers, and interfacing parties.

The Cost Engineer is responsible for the specific analysis, forecast, value benchmarking and opportunity identification and realisation for costs in a specific part of the HS2 Phase2a Programme. They will work as part of either the central PMO or as part of a Project Delivery Team managing multiple contracts.

This role is essential to ensuring we deliver to the cost imperatives of our client, our internal leadership, our business leadership and for the programme and will contribute to becoming an exemplar of best practice in the cost management space.

Accountabilities/Reporting lines:

  • Reports to Cost Manager

  • Supports Cost Manager and Programme and/or Delivery teams in engaging with contractors, clients and stakeholders to optimise our cost position.

  • Responsible for implementing cost management solutions on specific parts of the programme

  • Responsible for maintenance and control of costs and alignment with clients and suppliers

  • Responsible for the analysis, forecasting and improvement of indirect costs across the programme.

  • Responsible for assuring the accuracy of all data provided to HS2

Role profile/Duties:

  • Analysing costs across the programme, including assurance of supply chain submissions

  • Exhibit HS2 DDPs vision and values

  • Manage your own and others health, safety and wellbeing and be an active contributor to the HS2 DDP Health and Safety principles

  • Providing support and advice to the Head of Cost Management and other programme team members as required

  • Maintaining good working relationships with HS2 and supply chain counterparts

  • Ensuring data flows and reporting information is assured and working efficiently though out the contract hierarchy

  • Contribute towards continuous improvement processes and procedures

Here’s What You’ll Need:

REQUIRED:

  • Good understanding of Cost Management Processes

  • Good understanding of Cost Control & forecasting methods and its integration with change and contract management

FLEXIBLE:

  • Understanding of working on UK government funded projects and programmes

  • Understanding of Contract Management

  • Understanding of Rail Industry

  • Understanding of High Speed Rail

Experience, Education & Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • Experience delivering cost functions and capabilities

  • Experience managing costs across programmes, projects and contracts

FLEXIBLE :

  • RICS Chartered Professional/ AACE or similar

  • Degree in a related subject area

  • Software knowledge of setup, configuration and use of ARES PRISM and/or Power BI

  • Experience working on a major programme

  • Experience working in a partnering/JV or Alliance environment
