Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrated understanding of estimating organizational structure and process, including quantity takeoff, crew development, productivity relationships, material quotations, contingency/risk, knowledge of markup structures and estimate documentation

  • Develop construction cost estimates

  • Will interpret plans & specifications from multiple design phases; program, conceptual, design development through 100% Construction Documents and into change orders and generate quantity takeoffs and pricing for all systems

  • Analyzes drawings and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates

  • Review, validate and offers advice in the preparation of cost estimates

  • Consults with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues

  • Traveling to job sites to gather information on materials needed, labor requirements, and other factors

  • Using relevant computer software to calculate estimates

  • Evaluating a product’s cost-effectiveness or profitability

  • Recommending ways to make a product more cost-effective or profitable

  • Contribute to Risk Analyses, Value Engineering, and Constructability exercises

  • Assists in developing cost documents such as project management plans for the duration of the project. Responds to cost needs for the duration of the project

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Master’s degree in construction management, engineering, project management, or related technical field

  • Min 4-6 years of relevant estimating, progressive experience with increasing responsibility in building infrastructure will be an asset

  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail

  • Report writing and strategic planning skills

  • Familiarity with analyzing requirement data to develop material and cost estimates for complex projects

  • Working knowledge of codes in the engineering disciplines

  • Expertise with estimating software

  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents including drawings.

  • Excellent written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills

  • Possess excellent/good English oral and written communication skills

  • Independent, pro-active, accurate, with strong organizing skills

  • Experience with international markets will be an advantage
