Responsibilities:
Demonstrated understanding of estimating organizational structure and process, including quantity takeoff, crew development, productivity relationships, material quotations, contingency/risk, knowledge of markup structures and estimate documentation
Develop construction cost estimates
Will interpret plans & specifications from multiple design phases; program, conceptual, design development through 100% Construction Documents and into change orders and generate quantity takeoffs and pricing for all systems
Analyzes drawings and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates
Review, validate and offers advice in the preparation of cost estimates
Consults with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues
Traveling to job sites to gather information on materials needed, labor requirements, and other factors
Using relevant computer software to calculate estimates
Evaluating a product’s cost-effectiveness or profitability
Recommending ways to make a product more cost-effective or profitable
Contribute to Risk Analyses, Value Engineering, and Constructability exercises
Assists in developing cost documents such as project management plans for the duration of the project. Responds to cost needs for the duration of the project
Here’s what you’ll need :
Master’s degree in construction management, engineering, project management, or related technical field
Min 4-6 years of relevant estimating, progressive experience with increasing responsibility in building infrastructure will be an asset
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
Report writing and strategic planning skills
Familiarity with analyzing requirement data to develop material and cost estimates for complex projects
Working knowledge of codes in the engineering disciplines
Expertise with estimating software
Ability to read and interpret technical documents including drawings.
Excellent written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
Possess excellent/good English oral and written communication skills
Independent, pro-active, accurate, with strong organizing skills
Experience with international markets will be an advantage
