Jacobs is looking for an Assistant Resident Engineer (Trackwork), to join one of our Double Track projects. The successful candidate will work as an integrated member of the project team and be based on site in Selangor/Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The Primary responsibilities are as follows;

  • Act as a site representative support of the Consultant and RE

  • Liaise with the Consultant head office, Inspector of Works and Contractor.

  • Attend site or client meetings in support of the RE.

  • Assistance in monthly report on the progress of the works.

  • Assistance in certification interim progress payments submitted by the Contractor for Client’s approval.

  • Monitor safety measures as prescribed by the method statements and safety documentation.

  • Review of the Construction Method Statements for conformance to design and specifications.

  • Responsible for verification of as-built drawings

  • Review of the Integrated Testing Plans for conformance to specifications and standards.

  • Review of QA documentation for conformance to the prerequisite site verification of approved materials.

  • Review of QA documentation on site testing of track welding and placement.

  • Review survey controls and setting out procedures as defined in the approved survey method statements.

  • Produce Non-Conformance Reports.

  • Attend Request for Inspection.

  • Ensure NCRs closure and RFIs.

  • Ensure that the Contractor’s work is supervised and carried out in accordance with the drawings and specifications.

  • Build a trusted relationship with the client and contractor’s project team; place an emphasis on safe working and a high quality of delivery;

  • Flag deviations when they occur;

  • Provide status reports and routine updates to the Jacobs Project Manager;

  • Attend site meetings and actively contribute towards workshops and group discussions.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • With a Bachelor's Degree , registered with Board of Engineers, Malaysia

  • have the professional experience of at least 5 years working on rail (trackwork) projects, working in a rail trackwork environment, either on construction/design projects, or in the maintenance and operation of a railway;

  • have a working knowledge of design, installation, testing and commissioning of rail and transit assets;

  • be able to read and interpret technical engineering drawings;

  • be a team player and be flexible to the needs of the project.

  • Must be able to interpret plans and specifications, be totally familiar with construction-related processes related to area of assignment,

  • Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing; to follow oral and written instructions and prepare written messages and reports.

  • Client focused, always striving to give clients the best solutions.
