The 480th Intelligence Support Reconnaissance Wing (ISWR) leads the Air Force’s Distributed Common Ground System (DCGS-AF) efforts. The DCGS-AF is the Air Force’s primary intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) planning, collection, processing and exploitation, analysis and dissemination weapon system. The weapon system employs a global communications architecture that connects multiple intelligence platforms, DoD networks, and sensors. Personnel assigned to DCGS-AF produce actionable intelligence from data collected by a variety of sensors on the U-2, RQ-4 Global Hawk, MQ-1 Predator, MQ-9 Reaper and other ISR platforms across multiple security levels up to TOP SECRET/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI).
The C4ISR Engineer will apply advanced networking concepts in the analysis, study, and design of architecture and analyze network characteristics (e.g., traffic, connect time, transmission speeds, packet sizes, and throughput) and recommend procurement, removal, and modification to existing network components. The C4ISR Engineer will also design, optimize, and implement a standardized network topology and configuration amongst 480 ISRW sites and Diagnose and recommend remediation of problems and plan and coordinate installations, transitions, and cutovers of network components and capabilities.
Shift work is required to support 24x7 operations. It is important to be available to work any shift/designated hours required to include nights, weekends and holidays. Shift differential will be paid.
Perform periodic reviews, at the request of the Government, of existing network designs and capabilities with the goal of making refinements, reducing operating overhead, enhancing network throughput, improving reliability and security, and improving current network topologies
Provide systems engineering support to resolve problems, transform customer requirements into technical solutions, generate information for decision makers, and provide information for follow-on processes
Provide technical analysis and engineering support for all proposed and validate system requirements for C4ISR in support of operational requirements
Provide technical solutions to facilitate multi-intelligence data integration into DCGS
Devise strategies to synchronize the insertion of new ISR correlated/fused data with the efficient planning, direction, and operational employment of theater aerospace, ground and naval forces
Assess the feasibility of integrating ISR systems into DCGS, while minimizing the impact to current operations
Develop system engineering documentation (i.e. white papers, reports/studies, briefings) to formalize concepts
Design reconfiguration of network to accommodate mission needs
