Mission Statement

The 480th Intelligence Support Reconnaissance Wing (ISWR) leads the Air Force’s Distributed Common Ground System (DCGS-AF) efforts. The DCGS-AF is the Air Force’s primary intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) planning, collection, processing and exploitation, analysis and dissemination weapon system. The weapon system employs a global communications architecture that connects multiple intelligence platforms, DoD networks, and sensors. Personnel assigned to DCGS-AF produce actionable intelligence from data collected by a variety of sensors on the U-2, RQ-4 Global Hawk, MQ-1 Predator, MQ-9 Reaper and other ISR platforms across multiple security levels up to TOP SECRET/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI).

Job Description

The Data Center Infrastructure Manager will monitor and integrate plans, management, and execution strategies for all Data Center projects and support DCGS Infrastructure to include Server Farms, Data Centers, and Sever Connection.

Shift work is required to support 24x7 operations. It is important to be available to work any shift/designated hours required to include nights, weekends and holidays. Shift differential will be paid.

Typical Duties

  • Gather information at project beginning to determine project parameters and specifications

  • Provide input on budget, short and long-term human and fiscal resources have been accounted for in the associated Data Center Team project schedules

  • Ensure both project plan goals and objectives are being tracked, executed and modified as needed to meet planned milestones

  • Report on progress and budget expenditures to the Data Center Facilities Infrastructure Management Lead

  • Ensure Data Center project leads are meeting with service owners to guarantee future requirements and functionalities are being met or can be met in the future

  • Ensure planning of relatively complex projects are properly integrated with internal and external projects within the Project Management Office (PMO) as well as with projects external to the PMO

  • Track course of project from meetings, conferring with lead service contractor, and analyze received reports

  • Ensure changes to scope or functionalities of projects are documented and communicated to the right project leads

  • Assess compliance of project development and execution process with PMO operational models and Concept of Operations (CONOPS)

  • Lead cross functional team discussions, identifying risk and mitigation plans

  • Oversee cross functional team meetings and plan agenda ensuring important risks/issues are reported and resolved through formal organizational processes

  • Produce a weekly status report on project progress, use of resources, and milestone completion

  • Provide guidance to project management leads facing unique technical, logistical, schedule, and fiscal challenges

  • Provide programmatic management, transition and technical support activities

  • Lead requirement development and response to Statement of Works (SOWs) and Statement of Objectives (SOOs) affecting Data Center Management

  • Conduct contracting requirements management to include conducting assessments of Contractor proposals and technical evaluation process

  • Develop and implement processes aligned to IT Service Management (ITSM) with ITIL framework


  • Demonstrated experience in multiple large-scale IT systems implementations across multiple geographically separated locations working in a senior level capacity with a high degree of project oversight

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Data Center Infrastructure Management principles

  • Demonstrated knowledge of AF DCGS Wide Area Network (WAN), Campus Area Network (CAN), and Local Area Network

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Project and other Microsoft products

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Local/National Fire Protection Agency and National Electric Code

  • Demonstrated knowledge of AF and DoD TEMPEST and Physical Security Policies

Required Education: None

Required Experience:

Years: 6

Description: Six (6) years network and system administration experience with Windows, Linux, UNIX or Solaris systems or network engineering experience

Years: 3

Description: Three (3) years project management experience and experience with Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) technologies

Required Certification: Possess a CompTIA Security CE certification
