The 480th Intelligence Support Reconnaissance Wing (ISWR) leads the Air Force’s Distributed Common Ground System (DCGS-AF) efforts. The DCGS-AF is the Air Force’s primary intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) planning, collection, processing and exploitation, analysis and dissemination weapon system. The weapon system employs a global communications architecture that connects multiple intelligence platforms, DoD networks, and sensors. Personnel assigned to DCGS-AF produce actionable intelligence from data collected by a variety of sensors on the U-2, RQ-4 Global Hawk, MQ-1 Predator, MQ-9 Reaper and other ISR platforms across multiple security levels up to TOP SECRET/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI).
The Open Architecture System Administrator will maintain the health and usability of database components of the weapon system to ensure the databases are always available as required for mission execution perform maintenance and repair of databases and manages database services, such as data replication, Data Import/Export, Data Interfaces, and Data Standardization.
Shift work is required to support 24x7 operations. It is important to be available to work any shift/designated hours required to include nights, weekends and holidays. Shift differential will be paid.
Supports planning, integration and sustainment actions for system upgrades, modification and future growth
Ensure maximum up time and optimal performance for databases through proactive monitoring
Conducts Database Security - Ensuring that only authorized users have access to the database and fortifying it against any external, unauthorized access
Provides Database Tuning - Tweaking any of several parameters to optimize performance, such as server memory allocation, file fragmentation and disk usage
Initiates Backup and Recovery - It is a DBA's role to ensure that the database has adequate backup and recovery procedures in place to recover from any accidental or deliberate loss of data
Producing Reports from Queries - DBAs are frequently called upon to generate reports by writing queries and producing reports
Supports Enterprise Help Desk, DOC, OAMC, site personnel and others as required
Required Education: None
Description: Years: 10 years IT experience with five (5) years ISR related knowledge and experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated Working knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Microsoft Windows, Oracle Solaris, VMware vSphere (Virtualization Management), EMC Isolon (Storage Management), EMC Data Domain (Storage Management) Software Version Control Center (SVCC) Microsoft Structured Query Language (SQL) Oracle, MySQL, Other databases as required by DCGS mission applications
