Your Impact:
As a Lead T elecom Engineer specializing in data centers , you will be responsible for the design of the telecommunications infrastructure to support hyperscale sized data centers. This includes campus outside plant for ducts, maintenance holes and cabling; inside plant fiber optic cabling for fabric networks, UTP copper cabling, multi-tier cable tray layout and communication rooms layouts.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Present designs to client and receiving review comments
Gain familiarity with the client’s basis of design standards, scope, budget and schedule for assigned tasks
Recognize and communicate scope and design changes promptly
Collaborate design criteria with engineering team members to gather information required to design telecom system
Coordinate with electrical team members for systems power requirements
Plan and design backbone distribution, cable pathways, and telecom space drawings and schematics for commercial and industrial buildings
Conduct field reviews and surveys to verify accuracy of completed design
Interpret architect drawings/specifications, models and construction documents
Apply applicable codes and standards, including manufacturer instructions.
Utilize drawing markup software, such as Bluebeam, to markup drawings
Develop installation details and room layouts
Provide on-site reviews during construction
Lead and provide guidance to designers and BIM modelers or other team members
Coordinate work activities with other staff members and the discipline lead
Produce installation specifications with engineering review and approval
Lead and mentor small to medium sized telecom design team
Understand and apply both Jacobs and client safety standards in design and everyday activities
Actively cooperate with members of your project task force, client personnel and members of your department, as appropriate
Establish a professional relationship with key client personnel with whom you interact
Understand client expectations, as determined by the team, and constantly strive to achieve or better these

The base salary range for this position is $121,800 to $190,350. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Here’s What You’ll Need:
2-year technical degree or 4-year non-technical degree
At least 10 years of relevant experience in telecommunication design
At least 4 years of telecommunications design experience in data centers
At least 2 years of experience leading a small to medium size telecom design team
Knowledge and application of NFPA 70 (NEC), TIA/EIA standards, and other NFPA codes governing designs
Experience estimating and scheduling mid to large scale projects
Knowledge & application of telecommunications industry association (TIA) standards
Knowledge of design and construction specifications
Effective verbal, written, and presentation skills
Ideally, you’ll also have: * * * *
Professional Engineer (PE) certification
Project management experience
Working knowledge of Bluebeam and Revit
Knowledge of control systems and network topology
Oversight of Quality Assurance and Checking program for telecommunications systems
Start-up and Commissioning of telecommunications systems
Certifications: DCDC (Data Center Design Consultant), OSP (Outside Plant), and/or RTPM (Registered Telecommunications Project Manager), RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer)
