This is a NASA Test, Evaluation and Support contract position; it may be assigned to Jacobs Technology Inc. or a teammate company.
Primary duties include complete heavy equipment operation support for a wide variety of work supporting the NASA White Sands Test Facility and other associated government agencies.
Applies working technical knowledge with a thorough understanding of all phases of operation of various motorized equipment commonly used in construction, including but not limited to road graders, backhoes, loaders, skid loaders, forklifts, man lifts, dump trucks, water trucks.
Provides timely and accurate work reports to management.
Understands and follows verbal or written instructions, including technical manuals for various pieces of motorized equipment work authorizing documents, etc.
Works well as an individual or as a member of a team.
Produces quality work in a timely manner. Maintain equipment and work area in a neat, orderly, and safe manner.
Must demonstrate a commitment to safety in the workplace including proper use of PPE and compliance with all safety polices and instructions.
Must be able to read and interpreted construction plans for dirt work and utility installation.
Must be able to understand survey data and transfer elevations for grade on construction projects.
Uses MS Office products including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
Perform additional related and manual duties as required by management.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Resume or supporting documents must reflect a minimum of five (5) years of applicable experience or military/civilian trade school training.
A proficiency exam will be administered as part of this employment requisition in order to verify candidate’s qualifications (written and field tests).
Must possess and maintain a valid commercial driver’s license (state).
Meet requirements for certification, if applicable, as specified in the White Sands Training Database (WSTD).
Must pass a physical examination as determined by the WSTF physical examinations requirements for the job classification.
UNUSUAL OR SPECIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION
Position involves extended periods of standing. Physical requirements are: sitting, walking, standing, use of stairs, use of ladders, and access to remote structures. Typically required to lift and hold up to 30 pounds. Position is located on a hazardous testing facility; must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK ENVIRONMENT
Position requires individual to travel to different areas on site. Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand is required to access various locations on the facility. Uneven surfaces exist in office and shop areas and must be traversed. Must be able to function as a member of a team in a fast-paced environment. All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and Company safety standards. Work may extend to laboratory, shop, or test environments.
EQUIPMENT AND MACHINES INVOLVED IN WORK TASKS
Requires use of standard tools and operation and repair of all types of heavy mobile equipment.
CRITICALITY OF ATTENDANCE
Attendance and punctuality are essential in this highly collaborative environment. Overtime work may be required in support of test project schedules or other priority assignments as determined by management.

Must be able to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization. Must work well under pressure to meet deadline requirements. Dress must be appropriate for the position and not pose a safety risk or hazard to the employee or others in accordance with NASA and Company policies. Must be able to pass a physical examination as determined by the WSTF physical examination requirements for the Job Classification. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license (state). Must be a U.S. Citizen or legal permanent resident. Must pass a federal background investigation.
