Industrial Engineer (Engineer I)
This is a TestEvaluation and Support Team contract position (TEST2) contract position at the NASA – White Sands Test Facility. This position may be assigned to JacobsTechnology or a teammate company.
Candidate will provide industrial engineering support to theFacilities department. The duties for this position include the following:
Initiate and manage multiple engineering andmaintenance improvement projects to include planning, coordination, financialmanagement, budget preparation and reporting, estimating and field inspection;
Support emergency or unplanned maintenance work;
Perform root cause analysis and technicaldocumentation of maintenance issues;
Utilize change control system, prepare deviationsand implement corrective action plans as required;
Must constructively, courteously andprofessionally interact with colleagues and customers;
Lead and/or participate as an SME oncross-functional teams for maintenance, engineering and process improvements;
Participate in internal and external complianceaudits to ensure all EPA, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements are beingmet;
Assist in developing maintenance best practices,safety and Standard Operating Procedures;
Create, measure, and track performance ofMaintenance metrics and performance in a format presentable to SeniorManagement;
Utilize CMMS system and other databases for workmanagement as requested in support of scheduling and coordination of incomingFacilities work;
Utilize analytical tools for data analysis andreports.
A BS degree in Industrial Engineering from an ABET accreditedengineering program. Degrees inengineering technology are not considered to be qualifying for this position. Experienceworking with subcontracts in construction projects is preferred but notrequired. Experience working with Microsoft Project preferred. Proficient withExcel or other data analysis software is highly desired. Strong verbal andwritten communication and teaming skills with the ability to handle multipletasks are needed. Must be able to workunder pressure and understand the importance of completing tasks in a timelymanner.
UNUSUAL OR SPECIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION
Positioninvolves extended periods of sitting or standing. Physical requirements are:sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remotestructures. Typically required to liftand hold up to 30 pounds. Position islocated on a hazardous testing facility; must beable to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK ENVIRONMENT
Desk/office work and test area work. Test area work involves standing and directing technical personnel. Position requires individual to travel todifferent areas on site. Walking onuneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand is requiredto access various locations on the facility. Work on facility ground support equipment may be performed at heights orwithin confined spaces. All work must becompleted in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and Company safetystandards.
EQUIPMENT AND MACHINES INVOLVED IN WORK TASKS
Computer work required. Use of calculator, printer, fax, scanner,telephone, filing cabinets, and other standard office equipment isrequired.
CRITICALITY OF ATTENDANCE
Regular attendance and punctuality is required. Overtime may be required in support of testproject schedules or other priority assignments as determined by management orcustomer needs. Normal working hours arenine (9) hour per day with some flexibility based on pre-approval. A condensed work schedule, allowing alternateFridays off, is typically in use for each two week pay cycle (9-80schedule). Personnel in the branch arecross-trained to allow for normal planned vacation and sick leave.
OTHER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Must be able to communicate effectively with individuals atall levels of the organization. Mustwork well under pressure to meet deadline requirements. Dress must be appropriate for the positionand not pose a safety risk or hazard to the employee or others in accordancewith NASA and Company policies. Must be a U.S Citizen. Must possess a valid state driver’s license.Must pass a Federal background investigation. Must be able to pass a physical examination as determined by the NASAWhite Sands Test Facility and the Company for the job classification. Must submit to pre-employment drug testing.Must maintain site access to NASA facilities and computer systems.
