The challenge? Repairing or enhancing our nation’s bridge infrastructure. Our Structures Lead/Project Manager career path is your opportunity to work on exciting and engaging large-scale infrastructure transportation projects. Each day, you will provide technical expertise and lead a team in completing bridge and transportation structure design and construction projects. You should be a self-motivated professional, ideally with a Master’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, a minimum of 10 years of bridge and transportation structures design experience, strong technical skills in steel and concrete bridge design, Project Manager experience and have a desire to grow personally as well as professionally with each transportation project.
Our Structures Leads/Project Managers :
Serve as Lead Bridge/Structures Engineer and/or Project Manager on variously sized transportation projects
Lead successful delivery of quality projects
Lead transportation and bridge teams in all aspects of bridge design, from conceptual and preliminary design to final design and construction
Lead project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost and scheduling performance
Manage on-call contracts and sub-consultants
Identify creative and innovative bridge engineering solutions based on client, project and site constraints
Provide technical guidance, oversight, and perform quality reviews
Commit to quality and continuous improvement individually and for rest of bridge team
Train, direct, and mentor junior engineers
Coordinate design activities and meetings between staff, subcontractors, and Jacobs
Coordinate the planning, staffing, scheduling, budget management, quality control, safety and organization of subcontractors and internal technical and support staff
Identify schedule and cost variances and develops and implement recommendations for corrective action
Participate in the growth of Project Manager resources in the firm through the coaching of others and participating in the development and delivery of learning events
Complete tasks within schedule and budget with teams comprised of different disciplines
Develop specifications, cost estimates, and prepare final bid packages
Assist in project pursuits to win work, coordinating with client account management leads
Assist in business development and proposal efforts
Interact with and support other Jacobs project teams and client program level directors
Lead and support project execution, quality management and safety plans
Have strong written and oral communication skills and a team-oriented attitude

Bachelor of Science in Civil/Structural Engineering
Successful project management experience
10 years minimum structures design
Thorough knowledge of NDOT practice and procedures
Ideally, You’ll Also Have:
Existing NDOT and/or local county relationships
Design-Build project experience
Strong analytical skills and career path goal as project manager or office bridge lead
Knowledge of MicroStation, LARSA, Midas, ConSpan/PGSuper, SpColumn and other structural software
