Jacobs has an enviable reputation in the Highways UK consultancy sector as a result of a portfolio of high profile projects with clients that include the Highways England (HE), Transport Scotland, Welsh Government, National Contractors and numerous Local Authorities. Our plans to add to this portfolio continue apace regionally and nationally.
We are looking to recruit a confident candidate with extensive experience in drainage and highway design. The candidate would be expected to use WindDes/MicroDrainage, proficiently and have an understanding of DMRB and various local highway authorities’ standards.
For the technical delivery of drainage schemes, predominantly under highways but potentially across disciplines including rail and built environment
Resolving technical issue as they occur on schemes from Feasibility through to detailed design
Liaison within a multi disciplinary and multi office team
Reporting to a senior engineer, you will support the development of graduates within the drainage team
Working in other Jacobs offices may be necessary from time to time dependant on projects demands
Bachelors or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering
Working towards or achieved Incorporated, Chartered Member of the ICE (or equivalent status)
technical design background in drainage engineering
Good understanding of Health and Safety responsibilities
Knowledge of the preparation of Contract Drawing and Specification’s
Ability to produce well-presented and technically accurate drainage models with MicroDrainage
Ability to produce well-presented and technically accurate reports
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
Good understanding and practical application of relevant design standards, including DMRB, SuDS Manual and Manual for Streets
Good IT and presentation skills
Experience of construction supervision
OpenRoads / Civil3D proficient
Experience of motivating and developing a delivery team
Capable of managing a challenging workload subject to change at short notice
