Principal Engineer /Technical Director Safety & RAM - National / North of England


Due the increase of our workload we are looking for several experienced RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety) Engineers both in the North and South of England. These will join our Systems Assurance team and work on a wide range of projects both across the UK and internationally.

Systems Assurance is a key area within our Asset Management Team. Our Asset Management team is a creative and highly motivated group responsible for elements of Survey, Asset Data management, Whole Life Costing and Systems Assurance for our clients’ programmes

We are ideally looking for Engineers with significant experience on railway infrastructure projects, but engineers with experience in other regulated industries (oil & gas, air, defence, nuclear, etc.) will also be considered.

Our teams are in primarily based in Leeds, York, Manchester, Glasgow, Birmingham, London and therefore we have one vacancy in the North of England and another in the South East / London. However, we are a progressive and flexible team and offer the opportunity to work from home, business needs permitting.


Minimum Requirements:

  • A degree in a relevant subject area

  • A relevant professional accreditation such as membership of SARS, IAM, INCOSE or IET.

  • Extensive experience of Team and/or Workstream Management

  • Extensive experience of Programme or Project Management, Bid Management and/or Business Development.

  • Logistical flexibility, as travel will be required to project and client offices with occasional overnight stays or longer term secondments. This may include possibly working overseas.

Candidates should possess and be able to demonstrate some of the following skills and knowledge:

  • Safety engineering, including significant experience of through-life safety case management, HAZOPs, QRAs, hazard management, etc.

  • RAM/ARM/R&M engineering, including significant experience of development of dependability cases, RBDs, FMECAs, FRACAS, etc.

  • Additional capability in resilience engineering, systems engineering, human factors and/or asset management or other technical skill-base

  • An aptitude for innovation and the ability to challenge

  • An appropriate attitude for working in a very diverse team
