About the opportunity
Our Water and Catchment Management sector provides a focus for advising our clients on delivering sustainable drainage, flood risk management and civil engineering solutions. Water and Catchment Management comprises in excess of 400 staff based in the UK and Europe, but with reach into the Middle East, Australasia and America.
To meet our growing UK business needs and future development aspirations we are looking for an experienced civil engineer with significant experience in the development of outline and detailed designs for flood risk solutions to be based in our Leeds office.
The successful person will become part of a respected and ambitious company with excellent career prospects and international opportunities.
You will be responsible for taking a technical lead on projects for The Environment Agency, Local Authorities, water companies and you will also work with other disciplines within the group to deliver projects for major infrastructure clients.
As Technical Lead, you will have excellent communication skills and you must be able to demonstrate experience of project management and/or technical leadership, including oversight of hydrological, hydraulic and environmental inputs, on a variety of flood risk management projects such as:
Surface Water Management Plans
Flood Risk Management Strategies
FCERM Business Case Reports
Flood Risk Assessments
Wider responsibilities will include:
Line management of Flood Risk Management Specialists and technical development of less experienced colleagues in the team.
Management of high-quality outputs following quality assurance procedures.
Production of Flood Risk Assessments
Identify and pursue new business opportunities and support sales opportunities across the wider business.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
BEng/ MEng Engineering or BSc Geography/Environmental Discipline
Preparation of 5 Case Business Model and/or Project Appraisal Reports to Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management (FCERM) guidance processes –
Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams in the development of design solutions
Working knowledge of relevant legislation, planning policy, guides and design standards relating to flood risk management and drainage strategies;
Excellent report writing and presentation skills;
Ability to review reports and specifications
Ability to develop, price and agree scope of services plus leading tender opportunities
Chartered through a relevant Professional Institution
