About the opportunity
Our Water and Catchment Management sector provides a focus for advising our clients on delivering sustainable drainage, flood risk management and civil engineering solutions. Water and Catchment Management comprises in excess of 400 staff based in the UK and Europe, but with reach into the Middle East, Australasia and America.
To meet our growing UK business needs and future development aspirations we are looking for an experienced River Engineer with significant experience in the development of outline, planning, tender and detailed designs for flood risk solutions to be based in our Leeds office.
The successful person will become part of a respected and ambitious company with excellent career prospects and international opportunities.
You will be leading the design of projects for the Environment Agency (both regionally and nationally), Lead Local Flood Authorities and other public and private clients including Water Companies, Network Rail, and Major Airports. You will also work with other disciplines within the group to deliver projects for major infrastructure clients.
Responsibilities will include:
Design team leadership including coordinating outline, planning, tender and detailed design of flood risk management and river engineering solutions
Identify and pursue new business opportunities and support sales opportunities across wider business.
Earthwork embankments and conveyance channels
Reinforced concrete structures and foundations
Steelwork structures including piling
Flow control structures
Flood gates and demountable defences
Surface water drainage
Natural Flood Management solutions
Production of Contracts and Technical specifications
Leading and mentoring junior engineers through their technical and professional development
Checking and reviewing calculations and technical deliverables
Designers Health & Safety and Public Safety Risk Assessments
Management of drawing production
Coordination and management of other disciplines
Here’s What You’ll Need:
Civil Engineering degree and MICE, or similar status
Demonstrable knowledge of Safety in Design and Designers responsibilities under CDM
Proven ability in the leadership of outline, planning, tender and detailed design of structural and non-structural solutions for flood risk management
Working knowledge of relevant legislation, planning policy, guides and design standards relating to flood risk management and drainage strategies
Extensive experience of NEC contract management
Demonstrable experience in contract and specification preparation
Ability to review reports and specifications
Ability to develop, price and agree scope of services and leading tender opportunities
