Jacobs Equipment Operator II (CDL Class A)- Liberal, KS in Liberal, Kansas

As a Class A Driver in Liberal, Kansas, you will have the opportunity to operate heavy equipment and machinery on an assigned shift. You will contribute to the success of our program with efficient preventive maintenance and effective solutions to challenges that may arise in municipal facilities. You’ll be responsible for safe operation of the heavy equipment such as 18-wheel tractor trailer rigs, loaders, control runoff and drift to comply with all permit requirements; implement appropriate equipment and facilities maintenance programs to include maintenance of equipment warranties; load, unload, haul, and apply product waste, scum, grit and screenings according to approved procedures. You’ll also maintain records and logs of work activities; prepare reports and maintain complete recordkeeping procedures, DOT logs and manifest; and perform other duties as required. Most importantly, you’ll take action to ensure the safety, health and well-being of you and your team. This is a local position that may include over 40 hours per week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Communicating and coordinating with Supervisor

• Obeying and following applicable traffic laws

• Load and unload trailers.

• Switching tractor to different trailers

• Report any incident.

• Secure all cargo properly.

• Complete daily/trip inspections

• Minor mechanical repairs

• Self-starter: Able to see things that need to be done and complete them

• Computer skills: Reporting, Excel. Word documents, Maintenance connection

• Leadership skills: Able to lead and mentor team members.

• Teamwork: Work as a team member or be a team leader

• Trouble shoot processes: Able to see and understand different scenarios and to give input on decisions being made.

• Ensure any mechanical issues with equipment are corrected before driving.

• Keep equipment clean.

• Abide by Jacobs safety policies.

• Learn and fill in various tasks at the wastewater treatment plant.

• Any other tasks that are necessary

• Other shifts if necessary to fill in.

Will travel up to 300 miles per week

• 18 years of age

• Possess a valid Class A CDL driver’s license.

• Possess a DOT physical card.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

Due to the nature of the job passing a Fitness for Duty testing is required to ensure candidates for this position are physically and functionally fit to perform the essential physical work functions of this safety sensitive position without posing a direct threat to the health or safety of themselves or others.

The work area can involve a working environment indoors as well as outdoors, which could cause exposure to outdoor elements; proper environmental attire will be required. Some areas can have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, pathogens and various chemicals. The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.

Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, twist and bend at the waist, turn, kneel, squat, raise arms above shoulder height, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements and fine coordination to work on equipment, have vision sufficient to service equipment, have hearing in the normal range with or without correction. In an 8-hour shift must be able to transport self across the facility, ascend and descend stair steps, lift objects up to 50 pounds from floor level to waist height, push a push-type mower; wear and use appropriate safety equipment.
