Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Jacobs HSE resource for technical interpretation of health, safety and environmental regulatory requirements

  • Support HSE initiatives and promote the Beyond Zero culture.

  • Provide support to the employees by maintaining a visible presence in the field (75-80% of work day)

  • Communicate, coach and assist project leadership to ensure HSE expectations are understood and met

  • Work without appreciable direction

  • Audit worksite and observe employees to determine compliance with respective HSE policies and procedures

  • Prepare reports of audit findings to include recommendations for corrective actions

  • Prepare and maintain records, reports and correspondence relative to the job

  • Deliver HSE training to ensure regulatory and procedural compliance

  • Assess HSE program performance and identify trends through data analysis

  • Facilitate incident investigations with project leadership to determine root cause and corrective action

  • Coordinate injury case management per established protocols

  • Share combined responsibilities of all safety staff to include overtime for weekend work coverage as needed

  • Minimum of 2-4 years experience managing a safety program

  • Bachelor’s degree in HSE related field preferred

  • Professional designation preferred

  • Railyard experience preferred

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications

  • Experience with FRA, DOT, OSHA and BOE preferred

Other Essential Functions

  • Must pass site required background check and drug screen

  • Must have current motor vehicle operator’s license with good driving record

Physical Requirements

  • Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting and lifting

  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders to varying heights

  • Ability to wear fall protection equipment

  • Lifting requirements are limited to 50 pounds

  • Must be alert to equipment and machinery in the field

  • Ability to walk on uneven ground

  • Ability to work in hot and cold weather environments
