We are looking for a dedicated Land Survey Technician to grow with our collaborative team and work on a variety of projects. In this role, you will work in the field collecting and processing Geodetic Control, Boundary, Topography, laser scanning and other tasks associated with Highways.
Here's what you'll do:
Perform equipment inventory and adjustments and keep current with vehicle maintenance.
Collect survey data using GNSS receivers, scanners, total stations, levels, and survey controllers.
Produce clear and concise field notes and quality field data for office processing.
Plan daily activities to meet productivity goals.
Perform data processing tasks, including data download and reduction, field note reduction, calculations, processing, and quality control checks.
Communicate with supervisor and office staff about all aspects of the project.
Prepare daily time sheets, data logs, expense reports and field change orders.
Adheres to company policies and service line procedures.
Follow safety protocols.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
Associate degree from an accredited college or university in surveying or related field, and 1+ years’ experience as a Survey Technician OR the educational equivalent to a diploma from an accredited high school and 4+ years’ experience as a Survey Technician.
Proficient with Trimble survey equipment and software.
Proficient with GNSS and Total Station data reduction and network adjustments.
Proficiency in reading, understanding, and plotting land descriptions. Mathematical skills through trigonometry.
Valid driver’s license
Good social and communication skills
Ability to travel at least 50% of the time
Ideally, You’ll Also Have:
• Experience with DOT projects
• Associates or bachelor’s degree in applicable field
Physical requirements:
Physical ability to work with hand tools. Ability to traverse over rugged terrain, through water and work in an outdoor environment. Ability to stand and operate surveying equipment for at least two hours at a time. Ability to carry 50 pounds of equipment and supplies with or without reasonable accommodation.
Working conditions:
Ability to perform assigned duties in all types of weather as well as other work conditions, e.g. noise, dust, fumes, etc. Constant statewide travel.
