TEAM2100 is the Environment Agency’s 10-year programme to refurbish and replace tidal flood defences in London and the Thames estuary. TEAM2100 will carry out the first part of the Environment Agency’s Thames Estuary 2100 Plan, which sets out how to manage tidal flood risk in the Thames estuary throughout the 21st century. TEAM2100 will improve tidal flood defences in London, Kent and Essex from 2015 to 2025.

We are looking for Assistant Project managers to support the management and delivery of projects across the TEAM2100 from initial feasibility through to detailed design, and onsite delivery. With future opportunities to lead and take responsibility for project delivery.

Role Outline/Responsibilities:

  • Acting as an Assistant Project Manager to support the delivery of several projects within the major barrier team.

  • This includes the overall coordination and production of multi-disciplinary appraisals and designs, and the delivery of the identified solutions on site.

  • Assist with the management of a team of specialists throughout delivery.

  • Preparing and supporting tender/ outline/ detailed design solutions in accordance with programme and budget constraints

  • Preparing, reviewing and checking necessary calculations and design

  • Developing project delivery methodology and understand work package split and interfaces.

  • Providing project updates, and reporting on costs, schedule and risk

  • Assist with monitoring and reporting progress of work in relation to programme and take prompt action to address any issues

  • Promote a positive H&S culture on the project, ensure H&S procedures are followed and maintain H&S standards at all times

  • Supporting engagement with internal and external clients

  • Continued Professional Development

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Master’s Degree in engineering field

  • Working towards achieving chartered status with the relevant Institution (ICE, IMECHE, CIWEM or other)

  • CSCS card holder (can be taken once in position)

  • Good written and oral communication skills

  • Good knowledge of relevant computer programmes

  • Motivated and enthusiastic

Desirable:

  • Have a comprehensive Technical appraisal and design knowledge

  • Demonstrable knowledge of working and delivering to deadline and evidence of problem resolution in the process

  • Demonstrable knowledge of producing accurate technical outputs
