Your Impact:

The Transaction & Procurement Advisory (TPA) unit at Jacobs is around 50 strong and spread throughout the UK, with an office in Bologna, Italy. It sits within the Infrastructure Advisory team of Jacobs’ Strategic Consulting operating unit.

TPA provide advice and solutions where ‘infrastructure touches money’. The team brings deep sector knowledge combined with business expertise, to advise public and private sector clients when they are considering investing in infrastructure assets, when these assets change hands or when clients seek to manage and/or improve the performance of their assets or their business. across the following service areas:

  • Lenders’ Technical Advice

  • Commercial & Technical Due Diligence

  • Contracts and Procurement Advisory – Predominantly, NEC and PPP/PFI (DBFO and DPC) and FIDIC forms of contract

  • Transaction Advisory

TPA provide services to global clients, on global infrastructure projects, leveraging the technical services from other parts of Jacobs, and collaborating with P3/Transaction Advisory teams in other global regions. Our team includes professionals who have deep knowledge of one element of our services as well as those who work across our service areas.

Contracts and Procurement Advisory advises clients on procurement and tendering strategies, develops and assists in managing contracts, to enable our clients to achieve optimum outcomes and to successfully mobilise their investment. Our advice is predominantly across the infrastructure sector, including transportation (highways, rail, ports), social infrastructure, water and environment.

About the opportunity

Contracts and Procurement Advisory advises clients on procurement and tendering strategies, develops and assists in managing contracts, to enable our clients to achieve optimum outcomes and to successfully mobilise their investment. Our advice is predominantly across the infrastructure sector, including transportation (highways, rail, ports), social infrastructure, water and environment.

We are seeking aspiring procurement and contracts professionals to support growth in this sector.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

The successful candidate, reporting to an Associate in Contracts and Procurement Advisory, will assist on aspects of the following with:

  • Responding to opportunities to provide clients with advice on contractual and procurement issues on infrastructure projects;

  • Providing and leading procurement services to our clients;

  • Collaborating and leveraging technologies and best practices to differentiate our offering to clients;

  • Providing technical, contractual and commercial advice to clients in their area of expertise;

  • Undertaking commercial and technical due diligence and business planning activities within the sector;

  • Producing technical reports for public and private sector client

  • Assisting with business development activities, including bid development and marketing materials.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

Essential criteria:

  • Experience in one or more of the following sectors – transportation, water, environment, social infrastructure, utilities, maritime;

  • The ability to articulate technical challenges and derive technical requirements;

  • Experience of producing and presenting high quality technical advice for public and private sector clients;

  • Demonstrable abilities to deliver projects to budget and client expectations of quality;

  • Excellent analytical skills;

  • An ability to work effectively as part of a global team, and to share ideas and expertise with team members to support ongoing learning

  • Able to travel on generally short duration trips to project / client meetings, as required;

  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English;

  • Ability to build strong relationships with clients and team members

  • Degree or equivalent qualified.

Desirable criteria:

  • Able to do short term assignments overseas;

  • Proven business development skills, including client engagement, the development of winning bids;

  • Previous contract development, administration, management or dispute resolution experience.

  • NEC, FIDIC or DBFO Contract experience.

  • Additional languages.

Desirable qualifications/accreditations;

  • Chartered membership of ICE/RICS/CIPS
