About the Opportunity

Within our Energy Consulting Services Team we advise clients on the challenges and opportunities regarding decarbonisation/net zero issues specifically in relation to requirements for delivering the global energy transition. This includes decentralised, decarbonised generation and management, innovation in technologies and energy sources, as well as policy and regulatory support.

We are currently seeking a hydrogen derivatives technical specialist to expand our team to help deliver continued growth in our services and greater value to our client’s requirements. A key element of this is being at the forefront of dynamic change, in terms of energy generation, management and distribution.

The successful candidate will have proven project engineering and delivery experience of hydrogen derivatives projects in an engineering or consulting environment, including hydrogen production and its derivatives (ammonia, methanol, SAF) . A technical understanding of how this relates to project development and integration of hydrogen solutions with the rest of the energy system will also be beneficial.

The successful candidate will also be able to work collaboratively with our operations and sales teams to provide client focus and support, innovative solutions to our clients most challenging problems, connect and nurture our technical resources and evolve a hydrogen derivatives technical practice that is future ready.

It is not essential that your background is in the Power or Energy sectors, as we recognise that hydrogen is an evolving sector and that key resources may transition from other industries to participate in the evolving hydrogen sector.

The Role

In your role, you’ll provide Project Design Management and Design Engineering leadership for a range of opportunities in the hydrogen derivatives sector distribution, through feasibility design to technical specifications.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Leading work streams and delivery of consultancy projects, delivering on time and to budget

  • Actively participating in client engagement and business development opportunities in pursuit of future work for the business

  • Ensuring concept and detailed designs meet client scoping requirements and compliance with industry and client technical specifications

  • Conducting engineering reviews, quality assurance checks and approval of design drawings, reports, construction programmes and other deliverables

  • Acting as main point of contact with the client during the various design phases.

  • Carrying out system design studies

New Energy and Advisory is a specialist engineering, strategy and advisory practice operating within Jacobs’ Energy & Power business, focused on managing our clients’ risks and creating solutions that support change driven predominantly by net zero goals and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) commitments.

With our deep technical, commercial and strategic energy expertise across the whole energy system we develop solutions that address our clients’ critical challenges around decarbonisation and the energy transition, including whole system efficiency, electrification of demand, digitalisation and opportunities in decentralised energy.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

You need to enjoy working in a dynamic team environment and where necessary using your expertise to guide other members of staff. You’ll also require the ability to lead bid preparation, deliver to tight timescales, be technically accurate and to manage a number of schemes simultaneously, either as the lead or as part of a team. Strong verbal and written communication skills, and excellent quantitative and problem-solving skills are essential as part of this role.

Essential

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or Masters in Engineering or Chemical Engineering

  • Membership of an Engineering Institution

  • Proven project engineering and delivery experience of Hydrogen, Methanol, ammonia projects in a consulting environment

  • Experience in SAF
