Your Impact:

The Transaction, Commercial and Contracts Advisory (TCCA) unit at Jacobs is around 50 strong and spread throughout the UK, with an office in Bologna, Italy.

TCCA provide advice and solutions where ‘infrastructure touches money’. The team brings deep sector knowledge combined with business expertise, to advise public and private sector clients when they are considering investing in infrastructure assets, when these assets change hands or when clients seek to manage and/or improve the performance of their assets or their business. across the following service areas:

  • Lenders’ Technical Advice

  • Commercial & Technical Due Diligence

  • Contracts and Procurement Advisory

  • Transaction Advisory

TCCA provide services to global clients, on global infrastructure projects, leveraging the technical services from other parts of Jacobs, and collaborating with P3/Transaction Advisory teams in other global regions. Our team includes professionals who have deep knowledge of one element of our services as well as those who work across our service areas.

Our clients rely on us as trusted advisors to provide strategic guidance and business planning support as they seek to optimise their operations. We are regarded by financial institutions as one of the leading providers of buy and sell side technical advisory services across infrastructure transactions, and pursue these opportunities in line with the market.

About the opportunity

We are seeking a Principal Consultant to enhance our service offering in this sector. The successful candidate will help play a key role in the continued growth of the Jacobs ports & maritime business globally.

The successful candidate(s) will:

  • Have experience of delivering commercial/ business planning activities in the ports & maritime sector, or have experience of working in a relevant financial position at a port, or have consultancy experience in this sector.

  • lead the financial or technical modelling and analysis discipline of our ports & maritime projects;

  • help to develop client relationships and proactively promote the Jacobs brand across all the sectors in which we operate;

  • prepare bids for consultancy projects or commissions;

  • Serve as Project Manager for high quality profitable client work across a variety of commissions in both the public and private sector; and

  • Transfer knowledge and skills throughout the Company to promote staff development.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Broad experience of the ports & maritime sector, to include areas such as business planning, forecasting, port and commercial revenues, operating costs, regulation, strategy development, management organisation and capacity appraisal.

  • Experienced professional, having worked in an appropriate position within a consultancy or port operator involving financial/commercial reporting and analysis provided to management or clients;

  • Understanding of key market and industry trends and the ability to communicate these clearly and effectively both internally and externally;

  • Strong commercial and financial awareness, with specific appreciation of risks within the ports & maritime sector;

  • Strong ability to build financial and other complex spreadsheet models.

Desirable characteristics for this role include:

  • Industry experience within one or more of the other sectors in which we operate (rail, highways, utilities, airports, energy, social infrastructure), or experience within a financial institution (e.g. providers of equity / debt to projects requiring project finance).

  • Experienced ports & maritime professional with a proven track record of providing transactions advice, including a deep understanding of commercial and/or technical due diligence activities; or,

  • Experience of building client relationships, work winning and report and proposal writing.

  • Has professional working knowledge of languages other than English.
