Jacobs Transport Consultancy discipline has an enviable reputation in the UK as a result of our extensive portfolio of high profile projects. Our projects involve working with various major clients in the transport industry, including local authorities, private sector, and government, throughout the UK and Ireland.

We wish to recruit an experienced Senior Transport Modeller to complement our current team in London, UK. Primary Job Responsibilities

As a Senior Transport Modeller you will be involved in delivering a wide range of transportation projects, for various high profile clients across the UK. In order for you to fulfil this role you must have knowledge and experience using industry standard modelling packages and recognised transport appraisal techniques.

You will be involved in the delivery of a wide range of strategic transport projects across the UK. You will support and advise a team working on a variety of transport planning projects and will be involved in the preparation and use of a wide range of transport models, including providing guidance to junior members of staff.

This role is designed for part-time hours and all workingpatterns will be considered.

Occasional travel within the UK and/or overseas may be required.

Qualifications

Essential Criteria:

  • A numerate degree in a relevant subject for example Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Geography or Economics

  • Significant experience as a Transport Modeller for road traffic and/or public transport studies with the ability to contribute to the success of a range of high profile transport projects

  • Detailed practical proficiency working with macroscopic transport modelling software (one or all of SATURN, VISUM, CUBE)

  • Ability to work independently and also to guide others to produce clear, precise and coherent analysis and reports from transport models and transport appraisal techniques

  • Ability to work both as part of a team as well as possessing the ability to work independently to solve problems

  • Numerate with excellent data analysis skills. Competency in data analysis packages, such as Excel/Access

  • Good technical report writing skills

  • Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

Desirable Criteria:

  • MSc in Transport Planning

  • Experience in statistical analysis packages / programming languages (e.g. R, SQL, VBA, Python)

  • Experience working with microscopic modelling software (VISSIM)

  • Knowledge and experience of GIS software e.g. MapInfo

  • Chartered Engineer or other relevant professional accreditation (Chartered Membership), or working towards it

  • Project management experience
