The Economics team at Jacobs is nearly 50 strong and spread throughout the UK. We undertake consultancy work for both public and private sector clients, covering research projects to inform policy development along with economic appraisal to inform decision making at all levels; policy, plans and projects. We work closely with colleagues across the company to ensure an integrated approach to sustainability is applied on all projects.

We are looking for an experienced Economist to join the team with. specific experience in people management, project management and business development. The preferred location for this role is London.

Primary Job Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of the role are:

  • Take responsibility for specific areas of analysis and research.

  • Lead project teams, manage and develop junior members of the staff.

  • Manage projects, monitoring project financial performance and developing client relationships.

  • Write and review client reports.

  • Secure work and support business development.

Qualifications

Essential criteria.

  • Experience in the provision of economic advice to clients

  • Strong academic economics or business training

  • Flexibility to undertake economic analysis in a variety of disciplines and/or industries

  • Experience and interest in developing business opportunities

  • Strong analytical skills and financial literacy

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and presentation skills, are essential.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and confidence when interacting with others

  • Experience managing people

Desirable criteria

  • Project management certification

  • Management consulting experience

  • Multilingual
