As the Jacobs Cities & Places team, we create thriving places across different scales - from regions to cities, neighbourhoods to individual buildings and all through an integrated design approach. We have a tremendous opportunity in front of us to build upon our strengths and develop an interdisciplinary planning, design and delivery practice that is uniquely Jacobs, that sets the direction for the industry and is home to the very best and brightest design thinkers, disruptors, technical experts, visionaries and storytellers.

Our business unit brings together engineers, architects, surveyors, urban designers, project managers and transport planners to provide collaborative and coordinated value design solutions for our clients, both nationally and internationally.

Due to our expanding portfolio of design projects and long-term framework expansion, we have exciting opportunities within our Architectural Design teams. We seek talented individuals who are looking to further develop their existing expertise and roles can be based on a Hybrid basis out of our Birmingham, Manchester or London Office.

We deliver exciting and challenging projects across a broad range of sectors including transport infrastructure, the public sector, defence, education, research, technology, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing and mixed-use developments. These are across all stages of the building design and construction process from initial strategic briefing, where client objectives and feasibility studies are undertaken; through to development of conceptual and technical proposals, to construction phase delivery.

Key requirements for roles at this level are a strong design acumen, excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to project leadership with the ability to control all aspects of project delivery. You will need to be able to work independently and take design responsibility for decision-making and output deliverables within your project team.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • To be a Qualified Architect in the UK with professional ARB / RIBA registration

  • Professional experience in leading and delivering complex multi-disciplinary design, infrastructure and construction projects across varied sectors

  • Knowledge of BIM based delivery including Autodesk Revit

  • Experience of preparing Bids and Proposals

  • Experience of working collaboratively with clients and managing positive mutually beneficial relationships - strong problem solving ability, high attention to detail and an ability to come up with practical solutions

  • Happy to travel periodically within the UK and Europe to support project delivery
