The Water business unit has centres of excellence in London, Reading, Bristol, Birmingham, Peterborough, Manchester, Warrington, Edinburgh and Glasgow where our Infrastructure teams boasts an extensive portfolio working on high profile, challenging projects, providing multidisciplinary solutions to commercial, industrial buildings, advanced facilities, ports and maritime, aviation, water, wastewater, transportation, environment, waste and energy clients. From feasibility studies and planning, to design, construction management and operations and maintenance, we bring together the talent and expertise necessary to deliver success.

We currently have opportunities for Associate Directors of Civil Engineering with utility / water / civil infrastructure engineering experience to join our team, based in offices across the United Kingdom, working flexibly from home or co-located with our major Water Industry clients in their offices. The successful candidates will become part of a respected and ambitious company with excellent career prospects and international opportunities.
Working on projects throughout Europe as well as number of global projects, your responsibilities may include:
Taking responsibility for delivering projects and engineering designs in all the markets identified above at all stages in the project life cycles, from due diligence, masterplanning, concept design through to detailed design whilst ensuring technical excellence and best practice.
Leading the site civil teams on civil infrastructure, landscaping, utilities etc. for major industrial development projects.
Leading multi-disciplinary teams to deliver projects within agreed timeframes and budgets and to exceed our clients’ expectations.
Ensuring project financial and schedule performance.
Driving health and safety in all aspects of our projects.
Supervising and visiting contractors on site and advising on engineering issues.
Communicating and liaising effectively with colleagues, contracting engineers, subcontractors, sub-consultants and clients both in person and remotely across the globe.
Leading tendering procedures and developing proposals.
Providing guidance and support to less experienced engineers / technicians as well as contributing to global knowledge share Communities of Practice.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
Professionally qualified engineer status - Incorporated or Chartered Engineer
Proven experience in the civil engineering industry
Proven ability to work as part of a team, liaising directly with client and other project team members
Excellent communication skills, including written work and remote working practice
Ability to take responsibility to review work and make sure projects are completed to the correct specifications, on budget and on time.
Be comfortable developing a pipeline of projects through business development and develop client relationships within the industry.
Experience in the design of water or wastewater schemes; drainage, site infrastructure civils inc. utilities and landscaping/earthworks, clean water and sewage systems, pumping systems, pipelines, pumping stations and treatment facilities.
Working knowledge of contract types and procurement options.
