About The Opportunity
Jacobs is committed to playing a leadership role in Global Energy Transition. Our Energy & Power team is focused in providing a whole system approach, offering end- to-end service to support our clients in energy networks, thermal generation, renewable generation and storage solutions. We are helping our clients meet the challenges faced in countries and cities across the globe, providing innovative solutions to address the challenges of replacing conventional thermal power plants with renewable generation.
Our UK and Continental Europe team is growing and we’re looking for a Lead Protection and Control Engineer to join our Electrical Transmission & Distribution team.
The role requires P&C engineering knowledge and skills, with background in the design and specification (including calculation of settings) of equipment used in electrical networks and renewable generation. The ideal candidate will have background in working with transmission voltages 275kV/400kV and will probably have a consulting, utility or renewable generation background.
Our core design team is based across Jacobs’ offices in London, Birmingham, Reading, Bristol, Cardiff, Glasgow or Exeter. However, with offices throughout the UK, we can be flexible about location and are happy to discuss hybrid, part- time and flexible working hours to suit you and our business.

Here’s What You’ll Need:
Bachelor’s Degree / master’s in electrical engineering.
Knowledge of transmission (National Grid or SSE) HV design process and related project experience.
CDAE and TP141 Authorised P&C Engineer
Background in P&C FEED or detailed design of high voltage installations (132kV to 400kV).
Designing the HV infrastructure across the full project lifecycle from feasibility to detailed design
Ensuring risks are proactively identified, assessed and managed to avoid adverse impacts on the project.
