Jacobs Lighting and Power Electrical Engineer – Transportation Technology in Manchester, United Kingdom
This is an exciting opportunity to join our Transportation business unit delivering services centred on key transportation markets to clients principally across the United Kingdom but through our networks and growth strategies supporting projects across the world.
You will be joining the Technology Solutions group within our Lighting and Power team. With teams across the UK this role would be based in our Birmingham office, whilst offering flexible working.
As a part of our Lighting/ Power team we provide strategic, feasibility and designs to a range of clients including Highways England, Local Authorities’ and Airports. The work includes in addition to lighting supporting the roll out of the infrastructure to support Electric Vehicles and you will be a part of the team responsible for delivering and overseeing a variety these projects.
Extensive technical experience able to take the lead on Electrical projects (including lighting, public realm power systems, and Electric Vehicle charging),
Operate as a technical checker and expert for electrical designs at feasibility, optioneering, planning and detailed design stages,
Working with colleagues across our network of offices both in technology solutions and other disciplines;
Programme and cost monitoring;
Delivery of technical specifications, standard electrical details, and contract documentation;
Checking and preparation of technical reports, feasibility studies, designs, specifications and contract documents;
Supervising on-site electrical surveys/testing;
Providing electrical knowledge and support to the rest of the team,
Liaison with clients, electricity suppliers, contractors, professional organisations, sub-consultants and other design teams,
Mentoring of apprentices, graduates and engineers helping to advance their electrical skills and knowledge
Here’s What You’ll Need:
Extensive experience of designing to British electrical standards and working practices;
Experience of liaising with clients, the public, stakeholders and local authorities;
Knowledge and experience of National Highways (NH) and local authority requirements for electrical systems and electrical assets;
Experience of supervising/carrying out on-site electrical inspections and testing;
Clear communication skills and the individual must be able to develop strong technical credibility with the client and be able to foster relationships in a partnering environment;
Technical report writing skills;
Computer skills including proprietary electrical design programmes e.g. Trimble Pro-Design
Relevant Honours Degree in Electrical, Technology, Science, Civil Engineering, Management.
Professional status e.g. HEA / IET status or equivalent or demonstrably working towards status;
Experience of electrical design for highways lighting systems
Experience of electrical design for Electric Vehicle infrastructure
Experience of working with DNO/IDNOs
Application of BS 7671 (Wiring Regulations – Latest Edition);
G39 certificate held
CSCS card held.
