Position Summary

You will apply your sectoral knowledge and experience in one or more of the following fields: traffic and travel information service provision, traffic management and control, smart motorways, enforcement systems, smart city technology, connected and autonomous vehicles, electric vehicles and charging infrastructure, air quality management, Mobility as a Service (MaaS), tolling, data analytics.

You will provide advocacy, strategic guidance, research and development support, technology advice and project assistance to clients who wish to implement innovative and state of the art ITS Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and solutions. Projects may vary from individual assignments or working in a small delivery team through to working with and supporting multi-disciplinary teams in different offices in the UK and abroad.

Responsibilities will included

  • Ensuring projects and tasks are delivered on time, to budget and to the required quality.

  • Leading the technical delivery of deliverables and input into multi-disciplinary projects.

  • Providing technical direction to other consultants, design engineers, graduates and technicians.

  • Resolving technical issues as they arise and staying up-to-date with industry developments and changes in standards.

  • Liaising with clients, contractors and third parties.

  • Assigning work to and checking the project team’s work.

  • Developing more junior staff by technical training and mentoring them.

Although principally office based, there may be a need to undertake site visits, attend progress meetings or visit other offices.

Qualifications

Essential Criteria

  • Current or recent in depth experience of developing trends in ITS

  • Qualified to Degree level or above

  • Ability to work both as part of a sophisticated multi-disciplinary team as well as possessing the ability to work independently to solve problems

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent analytical and technical skills with a strong eye for accuracy

  • Able to undertake designs and supervise graduates

  • Ability to communicate ITS concepts, designs and principles to colleagues, internal project managers and clients

  • Experience of project and client management covering programme, resources, finance and quality control

  • Demonstrate collaborative behaviours and engaging style of delivery

  • Good IT skills

Desirable Criteria

  • Strong awareness of Health and Safety issues in design and CDM

  • Project Management Experience

  • Have achieved, or be working towards Chartered Engineer or other relevant professional accreditation (Chartered Membership).
