To meet our growing UK business needs and future development aspirations we are looking for a Senior Flood Risk Management Specialist to be based in our Salford, Leeds or Glasgow office.

Job Responsibilities

Our Water Environment team provides strategic, feasibilityand design advice to a range of clients including the Environment Agency,Lead Local Flood Authorities, utility companies, highway agencies and nationalrail companies.

As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for deliveringa range of flood risk projects, including surface water management plans, floodrisk assessments, feasibility studies and business case development for floodrisk management schemes.

Yourkey responsibilities would include:

  • Leading technical assessment and delivery of a variety of projects

  • Appraisal of flood risk costs and benefits

  • Development of options to manage flood risk, including resistance and resilience measures

  • Project management and/or technical leadership, including oversight of hydrological, hydraulic and environmental inputs, on a variety of flood risk management projects such as:

  • Surface Water Management Plans

  • Flood Risk Management Strategies

  • Business Case Reports

  • Flood Risk Assessments

  • Technical and business case reporting

  • Working with the wider Water Environmental team across the UK

  • Maintaining and developing strong internal and external client relationships

  • Mentoring junior team members



  • Proven ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary teams in the development of solutions

  • High quality degree relevant to the water environment e.g. Civil or Environmental Engineering, Hydrology, Physical Geography or Environmental Science.

  • Working knowledge and experience of planning policy and infrastructure design requirements relating to flood risk management.

  • Experience in business case preparation and the application of five case business model for Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management Schemes.

  • Proven ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary teams in the development of solutions

  • Ability to develop, price and agree scope of services.

  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills.

  • Application ofGISsoftware such as MapInfo, ArcGIS and QGIS

  • Working towards chartership through ICE or CIWEM.


  • Chartered through ICE or CIWEM

  • Relationships with the relevant statutory bodies e.g. Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales and SEPA

  • Understanding of Flood Estimation Handbook techniques and 1D-2D hydraulic modelling software (Flood Mapper, TUFLOW, InfoWorks etc.)

  • Holds valid driving licence
