Summary: The primary duties and responsibilities of this position are managed to support the WHE Operations, Port Operations and/ or repairs.

Anticipated responsibilities include but are not limited to:

· Manage and coordinate all docking and undocking work and all berthing support.

· Plan, assigns, and evaluates the daily work of the Crane / Rigging department / Port Operations department including setting and adjusting short term priorities, schedules, and deadlines to ensure safe and effective crane operations.

· Meets with MBOS supervisors, managers, contractors, and ship personnel to determine safe and efficient WHE / MHE selection and set up; exercises knowledge to judge lifting capacities according to crane configurations.

· Determines the type of rigging necessary to make appropriate and safe lifts.

· Manage on-site visits during WHE / MHE critical and / or complex operations and provides technical advice referencing the NAVFAC P-307 Weight Handling Program Management manual.

· Provides periodic oversight of work in progress and participates in WHE / MHE accident investigations.

· Keep accurate record of WHE / MHE equipment history files and Crane / Rigging department licenses and certifications.

· Manage, addresses and resolves customer concerns with respect to WHE / MHE operations.

· Ensure safe and effective crane operations.

· Performs and certifies WHE / MHE load tests.

· Trains and certifies crane operators, riggers, forklift operators, and aerial work platform operators with respect safe and proper operations.

Duties / Essential Functions:

· Responsible for planning and accomplishing WHE / MHE services while maintaining OSHA and ASME requirements associated with the Crane / Rigging department.

· Minimum of 10 years of experience involving weight handling equipment operation and maintenance.

o Five years’ experience of supervision or management of weight handling equipment personnel and equipment, required.

· Load Test Director: responsible for the calculation of weight for load tests and the ability to interpret OEM load charts; assist in the WHE / MHE certification program to ensure NS Mayport’s WHE / MHE and associated personnel are in accordance with NAVFAC P-307 and NAVFAC P-300 manuals’ instructions and regulations.

· Interacts and represents Crane / Rigging department during WHE program audits by the Navy Crane Center.

· Certified NAVFAC P-307 and NAVFAC P-300 trainer / instructor / performance examiner responsible for the management and administration for instructing, testing, and licensing of crane operators, riggers, forklift operators, and aerial work platform operators as required. Training courses to include but not limited to: General Crane Safety; General Crane Safety Refresher; Category 3 Crane Safety; Crane Rigger; Rigging Gear Inspector; Forklift Operator; and Aerial Work Platform Operator.

Here’s what you’ll need :

Required Education / Skills:

· High School Diploma or Equivalent.

· Typing

· Computer Skills

· Minimum of 10 years’ experience with WHE / MHE operations

· Familiarity with the applicable requirements of NAVFAC P-307.

· Familiarity with the applicable requirements of NAVFAC P-300.

Certificate / License / Registration:

· NCCCO Certified Crane Operator and Cat 1 Navy Crane License.

· Rigger Certification.

· Experience and qualifications required to become Certified NAVFAC P-307 “Train the Trainer” for the Crane / Rigging Department within 6 months.

· Experience and qualifications required to become “Train the Trainer” for Forklift and Aerial Work Platform Operator Licenses within six months.
