Jacobs has an opening for a CD&D Technician to support operations in McLean, Virginia. The role of the circuit design and drawing technician is to ensure accurate documenting of the customer’s cabling infrastructure and enterprise network and to provide a comprehensive run list and cabling plan to the installation workforce.
Daily (and periodic) responsibilities include:
Creating circuit documentation in support of customer funded projects
Attending occasional customer meetings
Working with systems engineers to understand feature requirements and develop architectural approaches to problems
Building inventories and maintaining accurate information as it pertains to network components, circuits, routers, switches, racks, etc.
Developing, implementing, and maintaining standardized procedures for adding, deleting, and modifying records of inventoried network elements.
Working extensively with IT and related teams in the deployment, stabilization, and ongoing operation of the systems.
Providing weekly and/or monthly status reports
The employee can make independent decisions that deal with the daily schedule and work to be accomplished. Outside of the project framework, the employee does not have approving authority for major monetary decisions.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
Active TS/SCI with Polygraph Required
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Must take and pass a drug test and background check as well as a motor vehicle records check and DOT Physical
Must be willing to travel as needed
Must be able to interface with individuals at all levels of the organization both verbally and in writing
Proficiency in the use of MS Office product suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, SharePoint)
Advanced knowledge the customer and the inner workings of the organization are critical to this position.
Must pay attention to detail and remain alert at all times.
Must be able to maintain regular, reliable attendance and ensure on time daily arrival
Prior experience with cable testers and Autocad
Knowledge of component and transmission medium compatibility and interconnection.
Ability to select components based on cost and space limitations.
Ability to work with schematic capture tools
High School or equivalent education is required
Someone that is a recognized expert or certified practitioner with a particular computer language, system or technology that can not only deliver capabilities, but can mentor and train others.
Expertise, training and actual work experience with the specific computer language, systems, and/or technology is significantly more important than the number of years of experience. This is especially true with emerging technologies.
Associate degree preferred.
Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Typically employees sit comfortably to do their work, interspersed by brief periods of standing, walking, bending, and carrying papers and books, and extensive periods requiring the use of computer terminals to accomplish work objectives.
General Office environment. The work environment is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures. The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as individuals across the Company and Customers.
Equipment & Machines:
General office equipment including PC/laptop, Fax, Copiers, Shredder, Printers, Telephone, and other miscellaneous office equipment.
Attendance is critical at all times. Must be able to work a 40-hour workweek, normally Monday through Friday. However, times and days may vary depending on business requirements. Needs to be available to work overtime during critical peaks and be available to meet last minute requests for overtime should the situation occur.
Customer and Personal Service:
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
Other Essential Functions/Characteristics:
An Information Technology Generalist proficient in many facets of information technology requirements. The candidate should possess general business knowledge and soft-skills allowing them to be adaptable in a wide array of work environments. The candidate should have the willingness to participate in these type of activities when called upon to do so.
Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others. Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.
Must be well-organized with the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously. Must work well under pressure to meet deadline requirements.
