Principal Bridge Engineer / Technical Bridge Leader

About the opportunity

Due to recent project successes and a strong project pipeline within our Transport team, we currently have interest in recruiting Principal Bridge Engineers and Technical Bridge Leaders with strong technical background. The available roles are primarily focused on experience in standard and complex bridges, gantries, retaining walls and maritime infrastructure.

We are also looking for candidates that demonstrate strong technical leadership to assist in providing technical leadership to our team, focusing on strategy, team structure, development, career progression and strengthening the technical career path for our team members. You will gain exposure to a wide range of major projects across all phases of design and work with a highly experienced and dedicated team on some of Melbourne's most sought after transport projects.

Specifically, your duties will include:

  • Development of structural engineering solutions in response to a client’s brief to an industry standard

  • Contribute to technical leadership in the design of transport infrastructure within the section and on projects, including the design of complex bridges, and underground and retaining structures

  • Support project delivery and ensuring work output is of a high technical standard Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and take an active role in their technical development

  • Support the technical leadership of our team and strengthening the technical career path

About you

  • Hold a recognised degree in civil engineering, preferably specialising in structures

  • Have experience in structural design of engineering projects, and specifically bridge related projects

  • Be experienced in undertaking structural engineering analysis using computer analysis techniques backed up by hand calculations

  • You should be competent in using analysis programs such as SpaceGass, Strand 7, structural Toolkit or similar equivalent programs

  • Have well developed written and spoken communication skills Be capable of working in a high pressure project team environment

  • Pay strong attention to detail and strive for excellence

  • Be able to work independently under the guidance of Senior Engineers to provide detailed structural solutions for projects of varying complexity

  • Be able to apply judgement and initiative in the application of engineering principles, techniques, and prescribed methods of engineering analysis, design and computation. Be used to maintaining appropriate systems and procedures to ensure reliability, viability and auditability of tasks
