Jacobs is a prime government contractor providing facilities support services to NASA Ames Research Center. Our support includes facilities maintenance, operations, maintenance engineering, and environmental and emergency services. We are looking for a motivated and experienced HVAC Technician to join our team!
The HVAC Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on various heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, exceptional problem-solving skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality service to our clients.
We are looking for a HVAC Technician to join our team and support our efforts with the facilities maintenance, operations, maintenance engineering, and environmental and emergency services. This is a full-time position, with several benefits including job stability, 401(k), Pension, Health, Dental, Vision, Short Term Disability, Paid Holidays, Vacation, and PTO. The rate of pay is $53.36.
Responsibilities:
· Conduct regular preventive maintenance on HVAC systems, including cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting components to ensure optimal performance and energy efficiency.
· Troubleshoot and diagnose issues in HVAC systems, including identifying electrical and mechanical problems, and determine the most appropriate course of action for repairs.
· Repair or replace faulty components, such as motors, compressors, thermostats, filters, and fans, to restore proper system functionality.
· Test HVAC systems to ensure they are functioning correctly and make necessary adjustments for optimal performance.
· Monitor and record system performance data, including temperature, pressure, and electrical readings, to identify trends and potential issues.
· Maintain accurate documentation of all maintenance and repair activities, including service reports, work orders, and parts inventory.
· Collaborate with team members to prioritize and complete work orders promptly while ensuring high-quality service delivery.
· Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client inquiries, explaining maintenance procedures, and offering recommendations for improving HVAC system performance.
· Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to HVAC systems through continuous learning and professional development.

Here’s What You’ll Need:
High school diploma or GED, and completion of an HVAC technical training program.
Proven work experience as an HVAC Maintenance Technician, and CFC and HFC Certifications for universal type refrigerants preferred.
Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, including troubleshooting and repair techniques.
Familiarity with electrical and mechanical components of HVAC systems.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
Successful candidate will be subject to a drug screen and background check.
Essential Functions
Unusual or Special Physical Requirements of Position
(Office work and outside work that includes potential for confined space access, control of energy operations, use of fall protection technology. Training and certifications provided as needed.
Must be able to stand for extended periods of time while operating machinery and performing job duties.
Must be able to lift to 40 pounds unassisted and occasionally lift or move heavier items with the assistance of lifting devices or other teammates.
Frequently climb ladders and sit, twist, bend, stoop, and squat.
Required use of arc flash rated uniforms and PPE, including but not limited to eye, head, foot, hearing, and breathing safety equipment.
Moderate to high noise levels around equipment and in generator and equipment rooms.
Description of Work Environment
Both indoor and outdoor field work will be performed, which will include exposure to hot/cold and inclement weather conditions.
Office work will be required, including the use of computers, handheld devices, printers, and associated components.
Equipment and Machines Involved in Work Tasks
Regular use of office equipment and radio.
Regular use of vehicles to travel around the campus.
Use of power, hand tools, and heavy equipment associated with the trade.
Criticality of Attendance
Work Schedule: Regular work hours (Monday - Friday)
Required to remain on-call on a rotating basis.
Support with overtime/weekend work as needed.
Regular and reliable attendance required.
Occasional travel might be required for local or out of state training.
